Call Sumter County Offices. They have an annual collection of paint ect. in the Villages. They may have a location that accepts it year round.

if you happen to live in Lake County there is a recycling location just off Rolling Acres Road....they take just about anything.
Some paint stores take old paint and I know places like habitat for humanity take old paint.

Regardless of size of paint can(s), have no more than 50% full.
Fill can(s) with cheapest kitty litter you can buy.
Let can(s) sit for a couple of days, in sun speeds up the process.
When the kitty litter/paint mixture is solid, dispose of as normal trash.

Back up North, we were told, to let the paint harden, and then it can be placed in the regular trash. Probably best to check here before you do this. In the past, I took old card board, poured the paint on it in the sunlight to get it to dry quickly. I would reuse the same card board for several 'coats' of paint, and then toss the card board in the trash once all the paint was dry.
Hope this helps.
