We are up in PA for ten days and at the end of 7 days when I went to refill my pill boxes I discovered I had forgot the bottle I filled with 7 more days of my pills. A call to the local Walgreens and they looked up my prescriptions and filled them for the 4 days I had left (I had just filled them for 90 days in The Villages) and at the most reasonable price. No hassle, easily taken care of, and at a reasonable price. What more can you ask for from a pharmacy.

I was so impressed with the two pharmacists at Walgreen's (Route 441 and Rolling Acres) that I wrote a letter to the CEO praising each for their outstanding work and dedication. Portions of my letter are attached.

SUBJECT: Praising Two of your Outstanding Pharmacists - Rebecca Presaud and Jiby Joseph

Dear Mr. Wasson:

It is a pleasure to express my sincerest appreciation for the Pharmacist Consultation Service that is offered in your retail stores across the country. More specifically, the professional demeanor; patience in listening and explaining drug purposes; reviewing my wife’s drugs for interactions; and questioning and following up with the prescribing physicians by your pharmacists, Rebecca Presaud and Jiby Joseph is unparalleled. Living in a community of more than 100,000 retirees in Central Florida, we are not always abreast of the latest technologies and medications that are prescribed.

Recognizing that physicians with their busy schedules can’t always be up to date with prescriptions, I have always relied on the expertise of pharmacists to check and double-check prescriptions for medical interactions and long-term effects. Over the years a busy pharmacist is inclined to answer with a YES or NO.

NOT SO WITH Rebecca Presaud or Jiby Joseph

No matter how busy, they make the time to listen, review, and explain slowly and clearly the effects of a drug. There have been a half dozen situations where doctors prescribed remedies that were questioned by me and my wife, and confirmed by our two most favorite pharmacists, Rebecca and Jiby, thus, saving my wife a lot of unnecessary stress and side effects due to her many medication allergies. Each time I arrive with my wife’s medication list whenever a new medication is prescribed, either Rebecca or Jiby greet me with a smile; ask how she is feeling; and respond to any cautions or potential interactions.

Just last week I attended a seminar sponsored by a local hospital. The attraction for me was a presentation by a pharmacist. Was I surprised when the speaker was Walgreen’s very own Rebecca Presaud. There were about 50 people present and she captured their attention with her expertise in explaining the basics about medications together with cautions. Many of the retirees had lots of questions and she answered each and every one of them with such ease, confidence, and clarity.

Whatever accolades Walgreen shares internally with its employees, my vote goes to both Rebecca and Jiby for their genuine concern and well-being for their patients and customers. They go above and beyond like no other pharmacist I’ve ever encountered. They should be poster-pharmacists for your other pharmacists in training and for the entire pharmacy industry. Obviously, I cannot express my sincere gratitude for Walgreen in offering these consultation services. Other competitive pharmacies offer similar services; but these services are only as good as the pharmacist consultants; and you have the very best in Rebecca and Jiby.

Very sincerely yours,

Dom Gualtieri

And for myself and all pharmacists...thank you for a lovely letter. I have had the good fortune to work with many pharmacists that are as dedicated as the two you described.

Which is why I had all my RX's with Walgreens (being national)...I could refill anywhere in the U.S. while traveling.

I especially like the pharmacists at the Colony location. It's a crazy-busy place but in my experience these folks are always "customer friendly" even though they're running their tails off. I've seen them verbally abused and still they're calm and ready for the next customer. KUDOS to them!!!

as another pharmacist, I, too, thank you for writing the letter. Retail pharmacists take so much abuse every day it's nice when someone shows them they are appreciated. And letters of appreciation really do make a difference to employers. I guarantee it will be noted and should benefit them come evaluation time, if not before. I can remember having terrible days and then a patient would sincerely thank me for something I did, and it reminded me why I liked the job and I'd feel valued.
