Flies and mosquitoes

I have lived in The Villages full time for one year and purchased 3 years ago. I have been surprised that there are very few to no flies or mosquitoes even through the summer. I have never seen anyone spraying for bugs of this type. Does anyone know if they spray or is that normal?

When we have visitors they all comment on this.

We lived in Tampa since 83. No flies and very few mosquitoes. We lived in the midwest. Lots of mosquitoes there.
