Need to have my microwave oven repaired. Any recommendations for a reputable appliance repair service. I just want to know what the problem is. It's working but making a strange sound. Thank you for suggestions that I should just buy a new one but my real question is can anyone refer a particular company that does repairs. Thanks!

Buy a new one, they are so cheap. Now if you have a built in, you need an installer.
Mine stopped working, opened up the case, and there was a small buss fuse blown, $1.00 fixed it.

The price of a service call compare to a new microwave I would buy a new one and get a warranty with your new microwave. This is just my personal option.

The microwave oven is working but it's making a strange sound. This is the best I can describe it: I put a paper plate in there and it kind of sounded like when you put aluminum foil in it, only without the sparks. So, I took the paper plate out and turned the microwave on and it made the same sound.

Many of the above posts are correct. In our previous home we had a GE microwave and the touch pad died. Believe it or not, we ended up getting a new Whirlpool for less than the new part for the GE.
Yup -- go out and get a new one.

There's a new Whirlpool microwave listed on TOTV in "items for sale"

Beck's Appliance Repair fixed ours. Our over-the-counter microwave wasn't available in the proper size any longer. Their number is 352-245-3598.

Thank you for referral. I take it you think it's better to pay service charge rather than a free service call?

If you're under warranty, call the company to get it repaired. Otherwise, I agree with those who said just get a new one. However, if you want to get it repaired, Beck's has a very good reputation.

If you have a GE get a GE and you can probably use the same sleeve and save the cost of installation. Same with other brands, buy the same brand.
