A neighbor had Mansfield do their work. Their trucks parked 100 yards away in front of our house for 3 days, including one worker with his boat that he worked on!! When they finished there was a large oil spill/leak on the road. My wife talked to the workers who said they would clean it up - They Did Not. Called district office who said if Mansfield does not do the cleanup, the homeowner who used Mansfield is responsible for the cost of clean up and any road repair needed. My wife called back to Mansfield, and some man "went off" on her saying no way were they going to fix the spill. My wife says she has never been talked to in such a rude and ugly manner, and then he said he would not talked to her anymore, and hung up!!

I somehow cannot figure this out. " Mansfield " Advertises as the # 1 Landscaper in The Villages, hmmmmm or at least He " Mansfield " say's he is. I would like to see the Real Proof that Mansfield is considered the # 1 Landscaper....Book him Danno !!

You're not alone. He was rude and ugly to us also. Trying to work with him was very stressful and we would never recommend his company. There are plenty of other landscapers to choose from.

Having owned my own business, I know that ANYONE can claim that they are number 1. You can be the worst business ever and still claim to be number 1. It's all propaganda to make people think they are hiring and doing business with the best when in fact, the business is the worst. I've seen it time and time again. Be careful with people who false advertise. Some businesses earn the title and some don't. Do your homework.

I am generally happy with the work that Mansfield did for us. I am generally unhappy with the process of getting there and the after sale customer treatment.

First of all, the owner really lacks the personal skills to deal with people in a business-like manner. He is very abrupt, pushy, impatient and, I swear, never looks at you. I know, I know, I should have shown him the door. Lucky for him, his work is pretty good. Otherwise, I don't know of anyone who would tolerate his arrogance.

He NEVER came back to check the job and totally ignored my several requests for an itemized invoice of what was paid for the job. I'm assuming that it probably never went through the books. There were a few things that I feel should have been tweaked by Mansfield, but I've fixed them myself.

As I stated, I'm pretty happy with the work. However, I'd never call him back for the other work I have planned.

Refreshing to read something other than stellar recommendations about Mansfield. Thge way they toot their own horn on TOTV (I know, they advertise), you'd think they were the only game in town.

I called to request an appointment for a visit to our home for ideas and a quote. I got a lecture over the phone, instead. Steve Mansfield even told me how many minutes and seconds we were on the phone like it was my fault I kept him, but he wouldn't stop lecturing. He wanted me to look at his website, pick out the design we wanted from the pictures and then he would tell me the cost. I wanted something with character to fit our space, not a cookie cutter selection. He was rude, had a caustic nature to his voice and that ended any thought of using him for our project. He may do nice work, but I thought the brain damage drying to deal with him would be just too much. Before I get blasted, this is just my opinion, though. I know others speak highly of him and his work. Personally, I don't want to find out.

And then you have Village Landscaping claiming 100% Satisfaction Guarantee when I know a few of us wish we never hired him either.

After an experience on the phone with Steve from Mansfield, my husband and I both agreed there was no way we could deal with a big bag of wind!

Any work that we have done is photographed and videoed by us to maintain with our records.
Suggestion: If neighbor is having any work done and the business is parked in front of your house doing something that creates an issue......take pictures, video, call community watch.

Same thing happened to me!!!!

Well, at least you and Villager got reamed out over the phone. We had to go all the way out there to be reamed out. Once there, he wouldn't let us give him a price range, and when we finally told him what we wanted, he came up with something completely different. I'm like, What happened to the fact that I don't want any palm trees?

So he gave us a plan that was totally not what we wanted, and a price that was way out of line, because it wasn't the plan we wanted
Then tried to suck us in by saying he'd give a $200 discount if we shouted him out on TOTV and made our decision right then.

We walked away. The next day he left a vicious voice mail on my cell phone accusing us of stealing his design and going to another landscaper. HA! It wasn't the designed we ever wanted! We went to another landscaper who would do our original design, for less money.

We also had an unpleasant experience with Mansfield. I won't go into details, but he was rude, obnoxious, arrogant, and customer hostile. We didn't select him and are glad we didn't. We were very pleased with the a landscaper we used, who was friendly, professional, helpful, and delivered what was committed. (Jaime's).

Please don't confuse Village Landscaping with Village Palms. Village Palms on 466 is very reliable. It just concerns me that the names are so alike.

We had recently seen their booth down at Sumter landing and were advised to visit their web site, which we did. I called to set up an appointment for them to visit our 'patio' villa and the response that I got was they do one patio villa for every fifty courtyard villas. I take it that it was the owner, Mike, that I was talking too. He wanted me to take some pictures of our place and come over to see him. I got the distinct impression that he was less than interested in us. That said, we approached Villages Palms and the young lady we talked to was excellent and she had set up an appointment to have a gentleman come out and see us which he did. The short story is that he called the morning of the afternoon appointment to discuss details and cancel as he was too busy as someone had set up too many appointments. OK, fine. So we set up another appointment to meet him, got there early and waited a half hour past the set time and we left. Apparently, these two businesses are so besieged with appointments that they cannot take time for people that own anything less than a new Designer or Premier.

I have never met anyone from " Mansfield Landscaping " but looking at the comments here I have come to the conclusion that something is wrong.

So being a curious person " Mansfield's " Claim that they are the #1 Choice of the Villages....I say let's see the Proof or Results that they are in fact the #1 Landscaping Company here in the Villages. It's SHOWTIME .... Mansfield

Here's a thought:

Wouldn't it be interesting if every landscaper that did work in the Villages,
claimed that they were #1 when they advertised elsewhere,
and on this site if they were advertisers?
.
Yes. That would be interesting!

I'm here.... I will be happy to give my review of Mansfield Landscaping. We hired Mansfield Landscaping two years ago to do our landscaping, front and back after seeing what they did for our neighbors home. Steve came to our home and explained everything to us about walls, rocks, mulch plants etc. We decided to contract him to do our work. It's been two years and we are still ecstatic with the work he did. Two years later, we get lots of compliments. People drive by our home and ask us about who did the work.

We have had no trouble with Steve and neither has anyone else we know who has hired him.

Here is a picture of our home two years later.

As you know... I've been off of here for awhile... I think I will go back to my life... It's a beautiful day... don't you think?

Here is a picture of a home that the owner felt he could do a better job than the landscapers in The Villages.

I know some people like the landscaping The Villages does, so I'm posting a picture of that as well....

Everyone has their own likes and dislikes... I prefer Mansfield Landscaping. Nothing wrong with any of the other jobs. Just my preference.

I don't get it... If you don't like Mansfield, go elsewhere, obviously you have. But can't we get off this topic once and for all??????

I'm beginning to think that TOTV is nothing but a BIT** forum where nothing pleasant is talked about, only non pleasant BS... Personally, I'm getting sick of it.

I posted a few weeks back, something about one of our very own TOTV'ers having a son in the olympics... how nice.... guess what, not one of you commented on it. Why? Because it was something nice and not something to gripe about??? Beginning to think the Topix forum is the better forum to be on.

Get over it people,,, stop griping and enjoy yourselves. You could be dead!!!

Was considering Mansfield but, with so many negative comments about arrogance and basically it's my way or nothing.....well, our money can be spent with another landscaper. Will not even consider calling Mansfield!

Angie had the time to go around and take photos of other people's landscaping for whatever the reason. The photos indicate landscaping that was pretty much done by the builder. Some people don't have the money to change what was put in and with others, it may not be something that is important to them.

Yes Angie's landscaping is neat and tidy. Driving by you would know that Mansfield did it.
