Me! Let me explain and you will understand why. My daughter and my beautiful grandson Milo are here for 2 weeks visiting. Milo is 8 months old, has 5 teeth so far but is still in serious teething mode. I was holding him on the couch, moving remote controls, papers, the cat...anything he could get his teeth into. He grabbed a bottle of red nail polish that was on the table and I checked it, verified that it was indeed tightly closed, and he started chewing on the rubbery top (please..no comments about this being unsanitary...the kid is like a puppy...he already bit into my coffee table and left teeth marks!). Being the wise woman that I am, I picked him up to take him into the kitchen with me. Do you have ANY idea how hard the ceramic floor is and how far a tiny bottle of polish can shatter??? I yelled (of course) for my loving, patient husband who has, over the years, come to expect anything from me. He smiled, through gritted teeth, and between him, my daughter and me we managed (thank God) to clean up the dark red polish, even from the grout. After that, Steve went back into his office and I swear he was looking at our marriage license, hoping to find an expiration date! As for Milo, right now he is sleeping peacefully in his pack and play.

Nah, you aren't a moron, just a victim of life. First of all, Milo is just adorable. How lucky you are that you get to enjoy a visit, even if it does have a few 'exciting' moments. And second of all, I am amazed that you got the nail polish out of the grout. I am beginning to think that you lead a very lucky existence. Way to go!!! If this is your first grandchild, relax. It's only the beginning in a long list of things that will happen. Just think of them ALL as stories to tell and you'll do fine. You are already on your way with a great story and a beautiful little boy with a grandma who adores him.

Lovely for a visit, but who has the stamina to run around with them, all day.

Give yourself a break, your daughter was raised fine.

Stuff happens.

We husbands might grit our teeth sometimes when we have to respond to small household calamities... but we grit our teeth in a loving way!

What an adorable grandson. You certainly are not a moron, and I am sure a wonderful Grandma! I have to say thanks for the info, didn't even occur to me that a nail polish bottle would break on tile, but certainly makes sense. Glad to hear you were able to get it all out. I agree with another post, will be a story to remember. Enjoy your visit!

You are the best moron around!!! I look forward to future events.

Don't forget -- one day little Milo will be two. I can't wait to hear those stories!

Quick clean up!! Nothing like teamwork! Kids break things. Pure and simple. I know I have blocked so many events like that from my parenting days.

I can laugh those catastrophes much easier now with the Grandkids!

Like they say, Grandkids are the reward you get for not killing your teens!! Grandkids are awesome. Red nail polish and all!!

And I bet your husband was just thankful that it was you, not him that let him hold the polish! In fact I can guarantee it! HaHa!!

OMG! I'm sorry that you all went through that.

The hilarious part of the story though was hubby checking your marriage license for an expiration date! LOL!

I love you Trish Crocker, and Doc too and glad the stuff came up.

What an adorable picture. Can I hold him?

That was great! You must enjoy a great relationship with Steve.

Something a little similar happened to me 38 years ago.

We had just built a new house and hadn't lived in it but a couple of months. Our son was only 2 years old and playing in his carpeted bedroom so I was in there supervising. Well, I decided to paint my toenails with red polish while watching him.

I bet you know what happened next...yep...I spilled the polish on the carpet!

Luckily, I have a very laid back and understanding husband, too, who just said..."s**t happens". We used the remnants the builder left us to repair my blunder. We pulled the carpet up, cut out the ruined part, put in a new piece and I sewed it all together on the back side. Once laid back down, no one ever knew about the red nail polish accident. WHEW!

Better you than me. Grand kids all out of state, thank god. Lol

We men are infallible and would never do something like that. Pretty sure he was getting on the computer just to get out of your hair so you didn't recall his unfortunate decisions. :a040:

You know, this would be a good, fun, non-judgmental new thread topic...

I don't have any grandchildren, so could we include our own babies? If someone comes up with a catchy title, I'll supply the first "incident."
