Help w videos not playing on MacBook Air?

My iPhone and iPad play videos from youtube no problem.
My MacBook Air laptop won't, it stays blank. Any suggestions?

Check to see if the boxes are checked. It will tell you if your current browser supports the youtube video type.

OK, Did that. Says HTML5 is used whenever possible. It's not just youtube, I also couldn't get NBC news video (about pickle ball) to play on my Mac Book Air but did get it on my iPad.???? Strange.

Try Installing or updating JAVA that should do it
I updated my Mac Book Pro yesterday works fine.

Most of the time you just need to update Java and adobe flash player.
