Got me for $120.00
Had auto payment with Comcast so just noticed two $60.00 service charges. Called and fought with them and was told that without the $4.00 a month protection plan any time a technician is sent to the home there would likely be a charge. If their router broke they would send another but have to install and get working myself. So if your unlucky enough to be stuck with Comcast you might want to add the $4.00 to your already high bill if you want service.
HATE THEM!!!

How much are you paying monthly to rent the router from Comcast ?
Why not go to Best Buy and buy your own ? Then you eliminate the monthly fee and the $4.00 charge. Routers are easy to install and inexpensive.

They added $60 to our bill, but the problem was theirs outside. After many hours listing to us not having their P plan, they are going to take it off.

Don't know and now downing some beers, LOL, told them to charge me the $4.00/ month for them to service their stuff and slammed down the phone.
Just got finished emailing our senators and representative's for what good that will do!! Right now I'm going to tie one on and go into la la land, I'M DONE!

Do not deal with the idiots in Comcast's "customer service" dept., they have no knowledge as to how to resolve problems but are well scripted on how to apologize to the customer. When I have an issue with Comcast, I contact Debbie Brainard who is the regional service director. She gets the job done! Her email is Debbie_Brainard@cable.comcast.com. and phone #904-256-1800. This info was printed in the POA in 5/13 and never through it away!

I use Debbie too.She always responds.
This is highway robbery. Some day you have no TV or internet service but you're afraid to call them because - in addition to the $150/month you paid IN ADVANCE for service that suddenly stopped, they are now going to charge you an additional $60 to fix their problem.
Everyone that was charged this fee should complain to the Florida Attorney General. If we don't complain, they just find more ways to rob us.

Never rent equipment from a cable company. Just buy it and if you can not set it up you can hire someone cheap for a one time fee!

You can buy internet modems but I don't think you can buy a cable (TV) box. Only Comcast boxes work on their system.
Correct me if I'm wrong and if you own a cable box, how much do you save every month?

It is going to be difficult to save money with the established companies.
You might trim costs around the edges a little....
If you are really wanting to cut costs... you will have to look to the services from the new internet based competition and use OTA broadcast for local channels.
But for now, certain types of broadcasts are not available from internet providers.
I suppose part of that decision depends on how flexible the viewer is about certain programming.

Currently, cable companies will only allow customer owned modems, Converters (cable boxes) still have to be rented from the provider. Same case if you have satellite and go from Dish to Directv. they will not work on each other's networks.

But... if one has a device such as a TIVO, they can rent a cable card to insert into the device from certain cable companies. The rental cost depends on the provider.
But, I am not sure it saves much, if any money. The TIVO device costs money and they charge a subscription fee too.

Question: I have tenants in my house at the moment who have Direct TV, when they move in December, they said if I want they will leave the Direct TV equipment as is because Dir TV won't reuse it at their new place. Will they let me use it if it is still installed at my house just put under a new name? Does anyone know the answer to this?
