I'm looking at the following two brands, Simplicity and Miele.
Any comments on either?

Dyson. I have two cats and it is amazing how much it picks up. I love it! But then, I don't really use it that much. Our cleanining lady uses it a lot more than I do!

Ditto on the Dyson! It's the best for dog hair.

We have a Shark Professional and a Oreck and use both.

However -- Miele probably make the best vacuum available anywhere.

For quick jobs I use a CORDLESS Hoover Linx and just love it. I have had Dyson and Miele and liked both. My big vacuum right now is a Sharp. I will probably go back to Dyson in a few years.

My daughter has a Dyson AND 2 hairy dogs and she loves it. She swears by her Dyson.

We here in TV had a central Vacuum system installed after we closed. Now that's what I love.

My housekeeper prefers her Dyson so much that she brings it with her to all of her jobs. It's great for picking up cat hair.

Roomba to scoot around under things and a Kenmore for the middle. Both are great for dog hair.

Have had a Miele "Pearl" canister model for over 10 years. Very pleased with performance.

We have had central vacuums in two homes in the past and both were great. If you go this route and have carpet just make sure you get a model with a good beater brush.

We also have a central vacuum in the motorhome - makes it nice - saves on storage space needed for all the stuff we drag along when we travel.

I have a zillion year old Electrolux and a couple of months ago I got a new Dyson Animal. I will be selling my Dyson when I move to TV in June and keeping my ancient Electrolux. With all due respect to those who love it, I can't see why. It makes me hate vacuuming and dread every time I have to get it out. Worst purchase I ever made, IMO. Anyone want to buy it when I arrive is welcome to it!

I just bought a new vacuum right before Christmas. I didn't want to buy online because I figured locally I should be able to find something. Plus I would have hands on with the product. I went to Best Buy and Walmart and looked at every vacuum between $100 and $300, I didn't want to go crazy since we only have a small 2 BR CYV with wood floors in the kitchen & DR. I wrote down the model numbers on every vacuum in that price range that they stocked.

The lowest was the Hoover Windtunnel 2 for $99 at Best Buy.

The highest was the Dyson DC33 for $299 at Walmart.

Then I went home read online reviews of about 20 vacuums. We were leaning toward 3 or 4 Shark models in the $150 to $240 range but found it confusing since identical looking models have a different number at each store.

Then I liked the styling and compact look of the Hoover Hepa vacuum for $150 at Best Buy.

The more I read the more the Windtunnel 2 Rewind for $99 keep leading the pack, but I figured for $100 how can it be that good. So we went back to Best Buy and really looked at several models. The Hoover Hepa felt flimsy and some reviews were very critical. The Sharks had some great reviews but then some really bad reviews. They also felt a little flimsy. We finally decided on the Hoover Windtunnel 2 for $99 and since we've had it home, it is the best vacuum I've ever owned. I noticed now that Best Buy has raised the price to $129.

Thanks for great input. I'm looking at the Simplicity Fetch. Pricey but made in America, metal parts and excellent sample comparisons. I'll write an update after a couple of weeks of using "Fetch".

Simpllicity makes a wonderful vacuum, and it's made here in the USA. The one I had was the professional model which did not accommodate varied heights in carpet. Very lightweight and easy to use. Now I have a Dyson, and love it.
