Thanks for your input on my previous post asking about the lifestyle preview:
https://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/villages-florida-general-discussion-73/lifestyle-preview-questions-106110/
We booked a lifestyle preview stay for the end of August this morning in a cabana (7 nights). Going at that time of year fits with our vacation schedule (having just sent our twin sons back to college the week before) and we can see how we like the Florida heat in the summer! (coming from Colorado I know it'll be humid)
Perhaps we will meet some of you during our visit. We are at least 2 years away from buying but we hope the lifestyle preview will give us a feel for what living in the Villages would be like. We also have a trip planned to Arizona later in the Fall and we'll visit some 55+ communities there.
We were assigned sales rep Liz Bell to show us around during our visit (the previous sales rep who gave us a 2 hour tour last September is no longer working with the Villages)

Liz Bell was our sales rep. You will like her and there is no sales pressure. Choosing to stay 7 nights was good. We stayed 4 nights and it wasn't enough.
We weren't planning to buy because we were a year away from retiring on our LSV. That was the plan not to buy, but we did. The house sits empty for a year waiting for us. We don't regret our decision because home prices are on the rise.

Best wishes for a wonderful trip. We weren't ready to retire either, but we are now on our 2nd home and expect to be full time soon. Enjoy every minute of it.

My wife and I decided to do our LifeStyle Visit in July (2009) to see if we would be able to take the Florida heat and humidity in one of the worst months. We were in the Washington DC 'burbs and discovered that this part of Florida is not as hot and humid as the DC 'burbs. Naturally, Colorado is a different story.
Make sure you get a golf cart for your visit. You will find the golf cart is an excellent way of getting around and is a lot better than your car for driving in The Villages. You will get lost but just pull off the trail and someone will stop for assistance in a minute or two. They probably will know exactly where you want to go - and instead of trying to explain, will just say, "Follow me" and take you there. Villagers are great people and we remember that someone did it for us, too.

That is good to know. My husband and I visited in October and loved it. But he is insisting that in the summer months the heat in The Villages would be brutal. We are in Maryland - so really good to hear you say it is not as hot and humid as DC.
He wants to retire in West by God Virginia as he is a big Mountaineer fan. That is not going to happen for sure.
He is a huge golfer, even golfing in extreme heat. I think he is just putting up a fuss.

I live in Washington DC, and my opinion differs. Yes we get some hot and humid days. The summer is much shorter, so fewer hot/humid days.
There have been days this winter where The Villages was colder than Washington DC, so I guess no need to go to The Villages in the winter. :D
