Chances are that his winning days are over. Definitely, he was one of the greatest golfers of all times. I will miss seeing him play and win.

So sorry to hear that. He is a talent like no other in my lifetime.
Get well soon Tiger.

What will the announcers talk about --- maybe he and Lindsey can make new legends

They will continue to talk about Tiger and show replays of Tiger. They cannot seem to help it.

Unfortunately zcaveman you are probably right. I agree he's an excellent golfer but please announcers focus on all the other great golfers out there. Let's hope for a Tiger Free Master's week!

I too like Phil -- but would like to see someone with humble beginnings like Patraig Harrington or Boo Weekley do good maybe someone i can relate to - Phil was playing at the country club as soon as he could walk nothing against that but

I don't know about that. Freddie Couples and several other's had great careers after back surgery. I had three back surgeries myself before having to quit playing because of other physical issues.

I don't think that they'd do that if people weren't interested. The guy could possibly become the greatest golfer of all time and people are very interested in everything he does.
It was the same thing with Arnie and then Jack. People are much more interested in them than the run of the mill good player. In fact the fields today are so deep with talent there are so many players that can win. People are just not that interested in the Steven Bodwitch's of the world.

Golf is bigger than tiger woods or any other golfer. It was really sickening to see golf announcers obsession with tiger even when he was losing badly. It was and is unfair to the other golfers who should be given their 15 minutes in the sun. Phil Mickelson is as good as any and was always a good winner and a good loser. I have had great respect for his quality sportsmanship, unlike some others.

I too hope that Phil can win masters this year. I like him, really, and it is wonderful watching how he is playing.

I agree that golf is much bigger than Tiger Woods. I don't mind watching him when he plays.
What I do mind that is a significant irritant is the announcers and the networks focus on him. When he is playing badly they feel compelled for some reason to show as many drives and putts or more than the leaders. The the after the event coverage of the event is even more of an irritant, more like disgusting. WESH sportscasters for example time and time again when reporting on an event Tiger played in and finished on page 5-12, they highlight his play and have in recent weeks while showing how bad he played and how his back is the problem and NEVER UTTERED A WORD about the winner.
And if at all possible I try not watch on NBC because those announcers will still when he is not there liken many of the shots as to what Tiger did or didn't do.
As a result of the above I look forward to the events he is not playing in just to enjoy a much better coverage of the game.
There is no reason what so ever to have his shadow cast across the game in that manner.
That is my $3.10 (two cents adjusted for inflation)

I have watched tiger and his golf from day one. He deserves more coverage than he is given. I suspect I know the reason the number one golfer in the world is hacked at by the same small bunch of posters year after year.
That's my free opinion.

I was disappointed to hear Tiger had to withdraw. Glad he's getting the surgery he needs. I hope Phil Mickelson does great. I like watching him play golf.
