I need someone to help in my home with getting my husband into his wheelchair in the mornings and evenings. He is getting chemo treatments and this is making him extremely weak. I can not lift him alone. I do not want to put him in a Nursing home. We are using Gentiva home care, but they only do nursing and PT.

I used to do home care. The physical therapist or occupational therapist should be able to instruct you on transferring him safely using sliding boards or a transfer belt without hurting yourself. As last resort there are lifts to use. All he has to do is roll on his side for them.

Thank you. PT did not tell any of this. I will follow up with them.
