I must be dense today....because I don't quite understand this post. It should be very easy to find office space in The Villages.

You must work for a business in or somehow related to The Villages to have your child allowed to be in the charter schools here.

That is a wonderful thing for us, and for the kids. It brings dedicated parents here to be employed.

It sounds as if the OP just wants to rent a room in a home he can use as an office so he can say the office is in The Villages - and his children could go to the charter school.

Check on your homeowner insurance policy before agreeing would be my reply.

I have been told that an office within a home would not qualify because the home is considered personal property not villages property

I think we all understand that but it is one of those things that is perhaps attainable if your wife finds employment here that allows your children with their lovely names to be admitted.

Wishing you luck. The Charter Schools here are another reason I admire the Morses.

P.S. WHAT are you sellinginthevillages?

I have been in touch with the charter school and realize that employment by a business in the villages is required , I have my own business and am looking to rent a office in the villages , was hoping someone would know a villages business owner that would want to sub lease some space

if one of you have the ability to work part time on a regular basis at a qualified establishment might be a better solution. the pay might not be great, no benefits, but you could get the biggest benefit of all with providing a quality education opportunity for your children. good luck and best wishes.

In your OP above, you mention your wife will be looking for a job in the villages, so as other posters have suggested why not pursue that angle first to see if she can find a village eligible job? That way you would not have to pay the extra expense for office space and can continue working from home. You seem determined to get your children in The Villages charter school and I don't blame you from what I have heard about it. I truly hope you find a way to do it.

If you can't get your kids into the charter schools, check the school surrounding TV. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at some of their ratings. No question TV charter schools are good, but surrounding schools are much better than many of us would have thought.

Also, be aware that the TV high school is now accepting only students whose parents work directly for The Villages or in the squares -- used to be that employees of the restaurants like The Olive Garden and banks had their kids enrolled in TV. Sadly, the high school has become overcrowded and TV felt the best solution was to limit enrollment even more. Something tells me that this policy will ultimately trickle down as TV itself grows.

As to sub-leasing space, I wish you luck. I'm not sure that just having space in TV would be sufficient -- you probably would have to somehow qualify your business with TV and I doubt they'd consider someone subletting space as being a viable business for charter school admission.

Just out of curiosity, is your purpose for moving here just to get the kids in the TVCS? I don't mean to be nosy but you should really investigate whether the school is right for you and your family first hand before you make that type of commitment. We had a kid in the school and things are not all sunshine and lollipops(true of any school). You must approach this with an open mind and speak to folks with kids in school there and folks that had kids there. If you have kids of special needs, they will not be accommodated. Feel free to PM me and I can put you in touch with actual teachers and parents with kids that go there. I will even get you in touch with my son if you wish. By the way, I teach in a local school have many opinions of all the local schools including mine. Just fyi...

It sounds to me as if the OP is trying to work within the system. As he said, he should have stated that he was looking to sublease space in an established Villages' establishment and his wife is looking for a job within The Villages. Asking if anyone knows of a business that would put him on the payroll without him actually working for that business would be trying to break the system. He is not doing this.

Enrollment is based on a tier system. 1) Direct employee of TV, 2)contractor of TV, 3)business operating on TV property. I have a feeling the powers that be know what businesses operate within TV. I also doubt very seriously if commercial leases allow for subletting.

I believe that he is actually looking for "office space"m not space in a home, with the assumption that if he rented from the villages his kids could go to the charter school.

Maybe you should read again all of the OPs posts. He is not even beginning to attempt to "get around" anything at all.

Best wishes to you and your family as you relocate and hope you are able to secure employment that will permit your children to attend the Charter School.

I made my statement in Post number 6 and he answered in Post number 7. As they say in court, "asked and answered".

I was not commenting after your post 6, but before. When one replies directly to a post, that reply is placed at the end of all of the postings that exist at that point in time. I tried to clarify what the OP was stating at 9:33. Your post number 6 was after mine at 10:07. Consequently, "asked and answered" does not apply. My post was not superfluous, as you implied. It was an attempt to erase your typical confrontational wording of your post 6. Confrontational, just like your post 31.

WHOOPS! I can't even read my own timeline correctly. You are right buggyone, if I had read the entire thread throughout, I would not have needed to correct your post. It was already corrected by the OP. So I guess mine was superfluous after all.

Actually, the "system" is never as set in concrete as it might first appear. If you do not at least "massage" the system, it will leave you out in the cold.

To call it "corrupt black market" seems a bit strong and overly dramatic. Call it what you will, it appears to me that you don't live here, aren't going to live here (not with school age children, you aren't), don't work here and yet expect the great minds of totv to help you bend the rules and possibly deprive some deserving family (who does serve the community) of one of the perks they are entitled to. This just seems wrong.

What's wrong with the school system where you live?
