I was heading back towards Spanish Springs from Lake Sumter Landing in my cart about 9:30 last night. I had just merged onto Morse Blvd from the cart path, going north, when out of the darkness a gas cart passed me on the right, on the grass, with NO LIGHTS ON. It pulled in front of me onto the Morse cart lane and after going about 75 yards did an abrupt U-turn across Morse Blvd directly in front of a car which honked and slammed it's brakes on. It seemed the cart was on 2 wheels for an instant. It then went south and turned into Barrazzo Ct., still with no lights on.
A man was driving but I couldn't tell what age or if anyone else was in with him.

Sorry this happened to you Ron. I hope your OK.
Expect the unexpected, is my rule of thumb.
My son who has lived in NY and Florida says FL drivers are crazy, in that they will do something, totally unexpected. After being here a year, I tend to agree with him.
For all those who hate New Yorkers, I can only say. We do learn how to handle a car and avoid accidents, as they are many aggressive drivers, who have to get to where they are going, in almost, no time.
Life my nephew says, "One does not drive fast, they just have to be first".
Be careful out there.

Just couldn't believe he was driving in the dark with no lights, besides his reckless driving.

I think we drive an invisible car , because almost every time we are out and about someone pulls right in front of us... good thing my husband and myself have good reaction time but darn my finger is getting tired of giving a salute !!!!

Today I was driving my cart to Colony Shopping Area. As I was approaching the tunnel by Havana a cart passed me and then went into the tunnel. He barely slowed down for the speed bump and proceeded not to stop at the exit but continued by making a right turn. If another cart had been approaching that tunnel there would have been a bad accident. Fortunately no one was coming but I don't think he looked either way.

yesterday an impatient old guy refused to wait behind three carts and a car at the 4-way intersection at Del-Mar.After beeping his horn three times[traffic was slowed due to the farmer's market day] he proceeded to make his own lane and passed us all on the left.He turned left without stopping.People were yelling at him but with his windows up,probably didn't hear a thing. The world's most impatient people are here in the Villages.

MOST of the drivers in TV are not from Florida. Please do not make everyone thing that FLORIDA drivers are crazy. It is the out of state drivers that move here!
I lived in Jax Fl for over 35 years and we all drove normally (is that a word?).

It has more to do with age of drivers than where they come from.

This morning (Friday) about 8:45 am, I was driving north on Buena Vista. When I slowed for the roundabout I looked left as usual and to my shock, there was a car also driving north in the south bound lane on the other side of the median. They stopped and then proceeded to drive past me into the roundabout. I'm pretty forgiving about some of the strange things we all see while driving, but this one did shake me. Drive cautiously out there!

You talk about crazies.... this morning as my husband & I were going to yard sales, we came upon a crowded one. I let him out and continued down the road to find a parking place. This guy came toward me and was forcing me into the car parked on my right. He shouted at me which made my husband go over and tell him to please chill out as it was a crowded situation. He drew a gun on my husband and said "you don't want to "f" with me!!! He was so stunned that he didn't get his plate #. I wish he had as we would have called the cops. Be careful out there!

You should still report the incident to the police
and at least give them a description of the car's color amd make!
This is a serious incident.

Yes it was in The Villages. With only a make of car and a million of them here, there isn't much the police could do.

Since we're talking about incidents here this afternoon I was travelling in my cart southbound and was approaching the gate at Bridgeport at Lake Sumter. There was a car approaching the exit gate and I saw him but figured there was enough time to proceed. However, for some reason he zoomed thru the gate and sat on his horn for about 10 seconds because I was in his way or so he thought. I thought I had enough time to leave the exit lane and probably would have if he didn't zip thru the gate. When I first saw him he was about 8 yards away from the gate when I proceeded. Anyway my wife commented that she hopes he feels better now.

Driving on Morse North of the 466 gate a person was driving a car in the golf cart lane . I was keeping my distance behind her in a convertible and waiving out the top of the car while blowing the horn to get her attention. Traffic was very heavy and after a while she pulled into the car lane .
Last night coming from the Pops Concert there were two unlicensed golf carts on Morse in road crossing 466.

What Village and street did it happen on? There were probably other witnesses who could help identify the car and driver.

If it happened as you said, you should have called 911 right then and there. He would have been arrested on the spot. It's against the Fl. law to display your concealed weapon unless you have probable cause (fear for you life).

I am sure I am in the minority, but things like this make me wish that all states required a front and back license tag. It may not have helped at all, but it would have given people 2 chances to get the license number

I recently saw a little yellow convertible CAR zipping along the golf cart path which runs adjacent to Belvedere Blvd. beside the Library. It's not an unexpected surprise .... in the past I've seen at least five cars driving on multi-modal paths.

I can't recall how many carts I have seen over the last cople of months with children driving them and in one case a child about 2 sitting on the ladies lap and driving. These must be visitors or snowbirds since I don't think many full time residents have such terrible judgements as carts are not "toys". I only wish there was more police coverage so these potential accidents could be stopped before they happen.

I agree. Someone presenting with that much open aggression is a serious problem.

Maybe being a Snowbird isn't so bad----I observed people getting more and more anxious and impatient the hotter weather gets.
It's only a matter of time until our golf cart insurance goes way up in TV with all the accidents and even fatal accidents that are happening in golf carts. I can handle that. But pulling a gun for "no reason" that's an entirely different story.
With all the concealed gun laws now in most states, we are returning to the days of the "Wild Wild West"! Not a good thing IMHO.
