I believe I am correct in saying that he only operates out of West Marion Community Hospital - West Marion Community Hospital - Ocala, FL | Yelp (http://www.yelp.com/biz/west-marion-community-hospital-ocala?utm_source=ask).

My other half had a hip surgery about a year ago, maybe more, Dr.Duke did the surgery and it was done at West Marion. This is a great little hospital, nice people, great staff, small and compact.

Dr. Duke appears to have done an excellent job. However, we have one big beef with him - my other half saw him once before the surgery, once in the hospital and never, ever again! As soon as he was released his appointments were with Dr.Duke's very competent female assistant. I'm sure she was more than capable of handling my husband's case, but we would have liked to have seen Dr. Duke, and would definitely have preferred to have him sign off on my husband at the end of the process.

I should also mention that my husband is a "left brain" individual. He followed the pre-surgical and post surgical instructions to a "T" and worked like crazy to get himself back in golf shape as quickly as possible. He is now back to normal and has no pain. So the end result is excellent.

However, there are several really good ortho doctors setting up practice in TV and I would do your homework thoroughly before deciding on a surgeon. There are many people who frequent this board who can give you in depth detail on other surgeons. You could also do a search, there have been many threads on this subject.

In our experience with my wife's hip and knee surgeries we found that it was common practice to have very limited post operative contacts with surgeon and more contact with either a PA or hospitalist. In the case of Tri County Orthopedics that was probably a blessing because her surgeon there has a hard time seeing patients within 1-2 hours of their scheduled appointments.

We have heard some very good reports from friends about Dr. Duke and the West Marion facility. The Orthopedic Institute in Ocala also have some outstanding surgeons, including Joseph Locker, who utilize the West Marion Center. Also had some great experience at LRMC with wife's heart surgery, both with the Surgeon Dr. Tim Moore his PA, Tom Jones and the entire nursing staff in the cardiac surgery unit.
