My wife and I went to Outback tonight. I ordered a rib eye medium rare. It came out so rare that the server was surprised. I sent it back and I don't know if they put the plate through a salamander or in the oven, but it came back well done and the steamed vegetables turned to mush. My wife ordered the flat bread and it was burned. We will not be there again. The problem for them is that the seasonal residents are leaving and they need people like us who live here year round to keep them open during the off season. I ended up getting no satisfaction and a wonderful Jersey Mike's sub.

I don't know if this has anything to do with seasonal residents or not. It sounds like perhaps your meal went into the microwave. Rare to me means raw inside. Med rare is less raw and med is pink.

Did you ask for the manager when your food came back to you unacceptable? Did your wife not accept her meal? Unless you tell management it does no use to say on TOTV that it was a disaster. Management must know so that they can make good.

If you get a bad meal always ask to speak to the MANAGER... ask them what they plan on doing to keep a satisfied customer. Don't be shy. They want your business!

I had same problem with a steak there last week also. I ordered medium rare, should have ordered medium.

I am surprised your meal came out wrong, as I know they use thermometeres to cook their stakes, to perfection. My experience has been, after complaining to the server, they will make it right!

Sorry, you had a bad experience, but I would have talked to the manager, as they are a good chain restaurant. IMHO

I have come to the conclusion that I have no taste. Things like this don't happen to me except very rarely.

I must be just a walking non eipicure.

Have had on occasion a meal that was not right...Spoke with a manager and it was corrected. Did you try that rather than this TOV???

I spoke to the manager twice. It was not made right, therefore I posted it on TOTV which I believe is a forum for your experiences at restaurants.

Sometimes that sort of thing happens.

At many places, sending it back to be cooked further means.... Microwave!

It is difficult to know who dropped the ball; the server or the cook!

Serving something that is burnt totally unacceptable. I would fault the server, for even bringing it out on the plate.... even though a cook probably prepared it.

Sometimes there can be friction between servers and cooks.

If you do not feel like making a big issue of it at the restaurant.... call the manager later and talk to them about it. You can bet they will want to know about it!

worst sirloin ever was from outback in the villages. im not one to complain in public so I waited until I was home then sent an email describing my experience. the service recovery was good. they sent me a $20 gift card for another meal. a sirloin isn't the best cut of beef in the world so I should have known better. next time around I had a tenderloin and it was wonderful.

Have you ever looked at the people cooking the food in these chain restaurants?? We are lucky we don't have to work that type of job. I just cross my fingers when I order and hope for the best.. ( mostly it is the best ) !!

The snowbirds may be leaving, but Outback is busy year around. Wonder why? Maybe, great food.

That may have been good info to be included in your original post.

That must be a busy manager. You shouldn't have to speak to a manager to get your meal right. Usually when they recook your meal you get it after your spouse is half done eating hers. You are paying full prices for what is on the menu and shouldn't have to complain to get it right. When I have a bad experience at a restaurant I just cross them off my list as there are plenty others. I'ts not my job to make them better at what they do by complaining. The good one's will survive.

What did the manager say when you spoke with him twice and you report "it was not made right". What did you feel would have been the proper thing to have made it right?

It certainly sounds like a very frustrating evening at the restaurant.

We also ate at Outback last weekend with some friends and experienced very poor service. We sat without being served while others seated after us were taken care of. We had to practically put our arm out to get someone to stop at our table. We complained to the manage and received one free Blooming Onion to share. Service never got any better throughout the meal and the check was wrong at the end. To make matters worse they were out of their signature Fosters beer. How can that be ????? A very disappointing night out.

Funny thing - I was in Australia last November and found out that Australians (as a generality) do not drink Foster's beer. They mainly brew it just for export and consider Foster's an undrinkable beer. They can always tell an American as the American will fake the Aussie accent and order a Foster's at a pub.

I really enjoyed Victoria Bitters while I was in Sydney.

I tried Outback when they first opened years go. I was not impressed and did not much care for the spices they put on their steak. So I asked for on without the spice, seasoning whatever they used. I stopped going there after that experience.

It does seem that a chain starts out with a lot of excitement and good reviews but eventually they manage to disappear

I have always liked Outback both here and elsewhere. Love the blooming onion, whatever it's called.
I guess, like Gracie, I've mostly been lucky with restaurant food and I am quite picky. The only absolutely inedible meal I ever had was at a TGI Friday's in Key West.

Personally, I have never had an experience at this Outback that was anything but very good. I really like their cheesy soup and the baked potato has the spice rubbed on the skin. Love it! I noticed Rubicon did not like the spice and I have talked with others who feel that same way. Maybe it could be mentioned on the menu that you could order with or without spices.

Outback is very popular. It has been in The Villages quite a while and there is always a line to get in. I always use the Call Ahead service which is almost - but not quite - like a reservation. It is just preferred seating over walk-ins.

Ok so now you need to involve the District Manager. This has gotten totally out of hand.

I've never exactly understood why Outback is so popular. At best their food is mediocre. It's not inedible, it's not awful, but at the same time it's nothing to write home about. Yet go by any Outback between 5-8pm and the places are packed with lines out the door with wait times that often exceed an hour. Nothing they have is worth waiting an hour for yet people go there in droves. I have always found that interesting.

The price points are good at Outback. Side salads are good. The Victoria' steak is good. I Never order a sirloin. Don't even buy it at the grocery store. Put confidence in your server and you will be happy.

I can't remember a bad meal at any Outback Steak House. However, you can get a bad meal and have a poor Experence at any restaurant, including top rated ones.

Unlike many here in TV, neither my wife nor I are "picky" eaters. I don't enjoy dining with those who complain about every little thing. Nobody is perfect.
