I will say up front that I have not tried very hard to figure this out for myself before asking the question. But I am going to ask anyway.
How is a post edited once it is on the board?
Thanks.

Just go back to your original post and click on modify or delete.

Thanks, but...
When I look back at my own posts, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to whether or not "delete" appears at the bottom of the screen and the word "modify" is nowhere on any that I just viewed. All I have is "reply, quote, notify" and I don't even know what to do with those from that screen.
There is nothing that I particularly want to edit right now, although I have been the victim of spell check from time to time. But I can't even find my options.
I must be missing something, somewhere. - not surprising. I don't have any experience with boards.
You can only see those buttons if you yourself created the posts. You would not be able to modify another user's posts, nor can he or she edit yours.
Check again and let us know if you cannot see those buttons on posts of your own.
Also, I don't think you can delete a post if it is the first in a topic.

If you started the thread and there's been a reply, you can't delete. However, at the bottom of your post, there should be 3 buttons: Quote, Modify, Delete. Remember, this is at the bottom of YOUR post, not the thread. Obviously, you can't change someone else's post.
"reply", "quote", "notify" are at the bottom of other people's posts.
Hope this helps.

I have occasionally been fooled by the lack of buttons only to realize that i was not logged in. Obviously if you are not logged in you cant modify anything.
Once you log in you will see the buttons to modify your own replies or posts.

Thanks to all of you for trying -- but still nada.
I log in, go to User CP, Show Posts, and still all I get is "Reply, Quote, Notify" so my words seem destined to hang out there in cyberspace forever. Once in awhile, I have deleted something but for the most part, I don't even get a delete button. I'm not overly concerned about it because I usually think twice and post once, but I would still like to know why I can't do what everybody else can.

Eureka!
I just broke the code!
I was looking for those buttons in the wrong place. I just realized that they are not under "show posts" but in the thread itself.
Now maybe I should just go back and delete all the stupid questions I have been asking about this.
Duh for me.
But thanks.

:a20:
I'm willing to bet this thread has helped several, so don't even think about deleting it. Sorry, I never thought to tell you it was the post itself. My bad.

Boomer BeBack,
Once you've found your post in your user profile, go to the bottom where it says Additional Information: and click on Show the last posts of this person. Now you will see all your post with #1 being the most recent. It should look like this:
Show Posts
Pages: [1] 2 3 4
1 Talk of the Villages Forums / Non Villages Discussion / Re: We are
the champions! on: Today at 04:11:05 PM
Click on: Re: We are the champions which will bring you to the thread. Once there find the post you wish to edit. NOTE: you can only edit your own posts! Once you've found that post look at the bottom of it and you will see:
Quote Modify Delete

You are all such kind souls.
And OK Red, I won't delete any of my foolishness. I'll let my dumb questions hang out there in cyberspace, and I will just pretend that I am helping others like you said.
