Good morning from Northern California. Will be re-visiting TV mid June with serious intent to make a decision on whether moving to TV is right move for me. I stumbled across this forum accidentally but have found it to be quite informative. I have many questions for current residents but wanted to take first step of popping my head out.

Welcome to TOTV. I hope you decide to move to The Villages. It's a fun and social place to live. There is something for everyone. Good luck making your decision.

Welcome. We lived in Rohnert Park, CA (near Santa Rosa) from 1986 through 1995. That's my parents, however, who lived there all that time. I was at the University of Minnesota Law School from 1986 through 1989 and worked at their law library from around 1988 through the Summer of 1991.

Miss Northern California, especially San Francisco visits and the very rough ocean at Bodega Bay and elsewhere. The ocean on the Gulf Coast is often so mild when compared with the inappropriately named Pacific. I have not been to the Atlantic Coast of Florida yet.

I also lived in Belmont near Palo Alto from 1984 through 1986 before going to Law School. There in Belmont, I worked abstracting business magazines for Information Access Company.

We have loved the Villages though since moving here in 2005 from Palm Harbor, Florida (near Clearwater). You do not have to worry about earthquakes and mudslides. There are hurricanes and tornadoes though.

That's an understatement! My wife and I are several years, and several hundred miles, away from TV but this forum makes me feel a little closer to paradise... about 20 times a day! Several years ago when I was planning our first trip to Disney's on-site campground I found a very active online community of people who loved Fort Wilderness, as it's called. I joined in and learned a ton of good information and made quite a few friends online. Then, later that year, when we were driving into the campground for the first time, a woman on a bike rode by and shouted "Hey Shannon!" We felt instantly at home. I suspect moving to TV will be a similar experience as I finally meet so many friends I'm already making through TOTV.

Welcome aboard!

A former Northern Californian here. If you're from the Bay Area, be prepared for some culture (or lack thereof) shock. TV has a lot to offer, is a great place to land and is definitely a lot of fun, but it is flat (and I mean FLAT), the produce is nowhere near what we Californians are used to and a few other issues. However, they are all minor and the tradeoff is worth it (except maybe the lack of mountains but that's all of Florida sigh). So, welcome aboard, ask any and all questions, be prepared to be amazed when you get here -- it really is a cruise ship on land.
