For those of you who have suffered from skin cancers (as I have), you may want to visit this site to purchase hats and other items of clothing for protection from the sun. A bit pricey, perhaps, but you can always register to be placed on their mailing list, to be notified when they have sales....

But remember it is not just the mid day sun that does the damage. The same precautions have to be taken even on cloudy days.....some of the more damaging doses don't need to come from the sun.

I wear sun clothing almost all year except maybe January. I wear ONLY big brim hats....after having 5 cancers on my head and face over the years. Yeah the big brims don't look as cool as the favorite ball cap....I gave up on vanity as a priority a long time ago.

And then there is the sunblock that not enough people make use of ....again whether the sun shines or not. The excuse of not wanting to be greasy is no longer valid as there are some very good grease less types. I use Bullfrog 50.... because I cannot stand anything greasy on me.

The other caution I will throw out there is the one against figuring no problem because even if you get skin cancer you are old enough to out live it....100% wrong!! Do your homework. Even the basal cell carcinoma that is the least if not totally non invasive....left alone feeds on good cells and tissue spreading just beneath the skin. A small pencil eraser size dot may wind up requiring removing a spot the size of a silver dollar and deep.

Did you know there is a cure for actinic keratosis?
Your dermatologist may not know yet either. I learned of clinical trials on this product that comes from the sap of euphorbia peplus, an Australian weed, when visiting NZ a couple of years ago. Trials are done. It will cure about everything but melanoma.
