Asked 3 realtors about putting in a P.I.G. All Said they thought it was not allowed. Went to the Laural Manor CDD office and they said it was OK....250 gal. Tank and 10' from property line and structure. hoping that's really true so we can have a dual fuel range in our kitchen. Anyone have one? I'll check with a propane company and see what they know too.

I have had a PIG for over three years and have at least two neighbors who have them. Love the gas range and have also connected the grill. Suburban Propane completed all the paperwork and managed my install. No problems so far.

Have you checked on Natural gas ? Getting that kind of clearance (setback/offsets/easement) in parts of the Villages may be a challenge.

Yes you can put a tank underground. What is a dual fuel range? Natural gas is not available in all parts of The Villages.

Dual fuel ranges are fantastic. The burners are gas and the oven(s) are electric, which bake more evenly and self-clean better. We had a JennAire in MI with five gas burners and two ovens, one of which was a smaller oven that preheated in about 5 minutes. we used it most of the time except at holidays.

I so miss having a dual fuel stove. I've thought about propane. Had one in Key West, and it cooked just like natural gas.

Does anyone know the approximate cost of installing the PIG?

We burry the pig in hot coals and have a BBQ about 12 hrs later!

Our new home (Jan of 2014) has a 250 gallon in-ground propane tank. Given the price of propane and the added hassle of arranging deliveries, I wish we had natural gas, though. We use LP for the pool/spa heater and for a gas grill.

We had Jerry Franklin at Fireplace Installers (352 288 0016)install a 60gal for our dual fuel. He was great to work with, plus fast and did a good job.
Suburban for the propane. With a dual fuel, its only feeding the cooktop. Suburban inspector & Jerry said a tankfull will last a year.

Next door neighbor has a buried propane tank, no idea as to cost, as this is a new spec house.
