Rules:
- you have to pick the winners of all games for this week prior to Saturday noon,
you get 1 point for each correct pick.
- you get one point for each game this week:
1) Jacksonville at Pittsburgh
2) Washington at Seattle
3) Tennessee at San Diego
4) New York Giants at Tampa Bay
Next week on Monday,
I'll post the point total/standings of those who choose to enter and -
list the next weeks games. You'll have to post your choices again next week for those games, and so on through the playoffs.
Each game next week will be worth 2 points.
The conference championships will be worth 3 points each.
The Super Bowl is worth 4 points.
Max point total is:
4 points first week (4 games @ 1 point)
8 points 2nd week (4 games @ 2 points)
6 points 3rd week (2 games @ 3 points)
4 points for Super Bowl (1 game @ 4 points)
22 Total
Confused? Good, so am I. Good luck
My picks -
Jacksonville (and I do like Pittsburgh, just not their year)
Washington (just because of their spirit and difficulties this year)
San Diego (should handle the Titans readily)
Tampa Bay (sorry Giants, next year)

Well one of us will have very few points come Monday.
Pittsburg, Agree not their year but they will get this one
Seattle, The Cowboys didn't show up is the only reason the Redskins looked good.
San Diego, We agree ;D
New York, This could go either way, but Giant are playing well even against good teams.

Skins .... gotta be a homer here
Chargers .... home team
Giants .... if they played like they did vs NE, they should win
Yikes...only picked one home team....may pay the price for that.

taltarzac,
being a sports fan likely is a negative in this LOLOL
My boy wants in on this, he won his fantasy football league superbowl two years running and thinks he knows football inside and out (he doesn't LOLOL). anyway, no harm in expanding this to those interested, since it's for prestige and honor and not $$$$$$$$$

Girls???? Don't know about 07 but I put my dolls away in about the 4th grade (well, decapitated them then anyway). But I gotta admit, my heart just isn't in football this year -- I've been a dolfan since 68 ... hard to root for them ever since they hired Johnson.
College ball is the Bruins forever -- so, do I care that USC won the Rose Bowl and is probably #1 in reality. Nah, just hurts a lot.
But wait til next season (okay, 3 seasons from now -- gonna take awhile to build up the Phins).

Not that I know of, but it would be nice to find one. Maybe we can do an online one and everyone pays up at the TOTV luncheon on the 18th (or mails their $$ by that time). Payoff could be done via mail if the winner(s) aren't in TV. It would be awkward, but doable. Probably too late for this weekend's playoffs but could be done for the Conference playoffs and the SB itself. Hey, this might be fun!

Green Bay Packers, may be a high scoring game, but GB has the second best offense in the league so in a shoot out they will win.
New England Patriots will be an easy win.
San Deigo Chargers are on a roll, this is still a toss up, I like Rivers and Turner but this one could go either way.
New York Giants, they are on a roll, and Dalles just didn't show up for their last game.

No. Just would like to get some more points. I usually do or have done really poorly when I have been in various sports office pools and the like. They had them and I played while I worked at Information Access Company in Belmont, CA. That was a long time ago though when the Niners were one of the hottest teams.

Looked at the weather. Looks pretty cold Saturday for the Seahawks who do not seem to play in many stadiums like the ones Green Bay plays in. So, I predict Green Bay will win. Also do not want to **** off my neighbors who are big Green Bay fans even if I do not know if they read TOTV.

So far, the favorites have come in but this is like a horse race, not much fun when you pick all the favorites but we'll see how today goes.

Try it if you've been a Dolfan since 1968. The idea of THAT team being the second undefeated team ever is truly nauseating. The only good thing I can say about the Pats is they showed me just how much I truly loved my Fish -- I actually had tears in my eyes when we lost the 1982 snowplow playoffs.
Do you fly the Fish flag, Redwitch?

OK, I gotta go with San Diego and Green Bay....
(depending on the injury list for SD by the weekend)
Don't ask why, I have no idea :dontknow: :dontknow:

Well, my teams are out, long out, some since October. So I gotta jump on that ol bandwagon:
The New England Patriots
The New Jersey Giants.
I understand Favre is moving to TV next year and wants to sign up for the Geezer Jocks games.

The New Jersey Giants? Did they move to NJ, or did you move them there? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giants_Stadium If their home stadium is in NJ, does that make them the NJ Giants?

Time to make my picks. Now I could take the sure route to victory and select NE and GB because that seems to be the majority choice. And it is also the point spread choice. But never have been one to go the easy way. So at the risk of losing all these hard earned points, my picks are:
New England and the Giants. I still really like GB and they may just prevail, but something about the way the Giants are playing, the way manning is able to motivate the team makes me think they may just go into Green Bay and come home the winners.

The news a few hours ago had the temperature at -1 F. at game time in Green Bay with a wind chill of -22 F. http://pmc.myweather.net/fc/mc.asp?id=9791
Kind of makes that game rather unpredictable.
When I experienced weather like -22 wind chill in Minneapolis in the winters from 86 through 91, I would often look like the Michelin Man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelin

As a college kid, I used to work security at Green Bay and Chicago games.
I'll assure you it was beyond freezing yesterday, I can still feel that wicked wind.
One game to go now. G-Men vs Pats
Congratulations to I2ridehd who has picked 8 straight games, missing only the first game (Jax-Pitt). He has clinched a tie for first place regardless of the SuperBowl outcome with 17 points to date, with 22 folks participating in our prestigious handicapping pool here. Here are the standings. If you have 9 points or less (like me) then don't quit your day job because you've chosen less than 50%.
17 points - I2ridehd - Our leader
13 points - Muncle, DickY, zcaveman - still in the hunt
Very Respectable but eliminated from first place contention are:
12 points - beartrack
11 points - Taltarzak
10 points - schotzby, villages07, ejp52, aLn
9 points - JoannP
The rest of us - good lookin' but not great at football selections:
7 points - Kathie1, JohnN, tony, redwitch, MattN
6 points - Time for Tee
4 points - jht
3 points - Bubbalarry, beady, jim16q
I love underdogs and perfection is a bit much , so... even though I picked against 'em every time thinking they played out against the Pats earlier, and couldn't win on the road.
My pick for the SuperBowl - NY Giants

So far luck has been on my side and many an underdog has come through for me. Have picked 5 against the point spread and won with them. But for the final, being as I grew up in NH and have followed the Pats since way way back, got to go with them. So for the Super Bowl it's the New England Patriots all the way.

Red's right, but so is Tony. Make this up as I go along but know nothing about the game. Red's in for a lot of explaining about, what is a down? What is offside? What is that pointy ball? Where'd it go? What's a line backer, ummmm! how many points is a touchdown? Why did that guy throw the ball instead of running? What's dribbling or walking or the 24 sec clock (oops, think that's the wrong sport). I'll drive her crazy!!! (or crazier, as the case may be.)

Kathie --
Touchdown = 6 points
Extra Point Conversion = 1 point (the kick after the TD)
Two-Point Conversion = 2 points (running the ball in after the TD)
Field Goal = 3 points (kicking the ball over the goal posts, not after a TD)
Safety = 2 points (idiot gets tackled in his team's end zone with the ball, 2 pts for the team that did the tackling)
sheesh!!!!!!
