three times driving-three crazy drivers

I took my car out three times today and each time I saw another example of crazy Florida drivers.Of course most Florida drivers come from the north or elsewhere,so be it.Incident number one-while driving on 466 west,a car pulled out from Laurel Manor into the median to wait his turn to also proceed west on 466.However rather than stopping to wait for the slow moving traffic to clear he inched half of his car into the left lane before finally stopping.Of course he was so far out into the lane,people had no choice but to let him proceed. Incident number two-while traveling on Morse north and driving over the bridge at Lake Sumter,a car in the right lane suddenly cut across both lanes and made a U-turn.Yes right on Morse on the bridge this happened.Incident number three.I was stopped at the light on 466 and Buena Vista going west.A Massey truck was in the right hand turning lane that's used to turn you on Buena Vista towards the
polo field.When the light turned green,rather than turning,he accelerated and cut in front of both lanes and went straight.I think I'll stick to the golf cart tomorrow.

What I have a concern about when they, up North drivers meet up with the 'real" Florida drivers, no turn signals and they tail gate you without any concern of what might happen by their careless act.

Don't believe it's the up north drivers, the Florida drivers, or the moon walkers. The problem is people are so self absorbed the can't see beyond their noses and drive accordingly.

Impatient drivers come from certain areas, along with horn blowers. In MD. we never blew our horn unless there was going to be a near miss accident. Now I am ducking every 10 minutes, lol. Bad driving can come with age..so patience is very important in all areas of our lives.

I don't know where in Maryland you are from. Must be a rural area, though. In the greater Washington DC area, including the Maryland 'burbs, if you were not moving away from a green light that turned within one second, horns would be honking every time!

This does not happen hardly ever in The Villages.

It is a geographic thing. Rare to hear a horn honk from where we lived, but things are changing there too as coastal folks discover Cincinnati.

I lived in Silver Spring and North Bethesda for about 38 years before moving to The Villages. We drove to and from DC daily. The suburb traffic was just as bad as downtown - if not worse. We consider traffic almost non-existent in The Villages and traffic manners very polite.

Having grown up and learned how to drive in Boston, I hear far fewer horns here than there. (I've also learned to use a horn far less myself.)

So happy to hear I'm not the only one encountering these drivers. Had a near-miss just today. It seems it's a daily thing.

People drive like they walk here. Spend some time in Walmart or Publix at Colony Plaza!

Do you think it is possible that bad drivers cannot read? With everything written in the paper and in forums such as this, there are still bad drivers out there!!! You would think they would read and understand, they are a problem!!! yeah right!!!

I lived in Silver Spring, MD for over over 30 years, and I agree completely with Buggyone. Traffic here this winter was a piece of cake compared to the DC suburbs in Maryland.

These kinds of things happen to us as well and when it does hubby and I look at each other and say "let's get off the road" and we go home. I figure it's a sign I shouldn't be driving that day.

I feel the way people drive is a reflection of their experience over their many years of driving. If you are from a major city your tendency is to be more aggressive as opposed to a person from a small town or rural area who are more apt to be more cautious. Either extreme can have it's problems. Of course this a generalization but I can tell you that personally having lived all of my life in the Greater Toronto Area with over 6 million inhabitants, driving there is not for the faint of heart. Somewhere in the middle is probably the best for TV.
