Thanks for the heads up about the broken link. It's a news item from the online newspaper giving information about a young man who was knocked off his bike by a woman driving a golf cart yesterday - evidently the side enclosures on the golf cart were not tied down and they knocked him off his bike and she just kept going - she probably does not even know she caused his accident.

It really is a non-story. The golf cart obviously did pass the bike too close and was negligent about snapping down her side curtains. She did not look in her rear view mirror to see when it was safe to get back in the cart lane or she would have seen the man knocked off his bike.

I read the article but didn't see anything about the enclosures.

Re-read it and you will see it says side curtains. Those are the enclosures.

Thanks to **************.com residents have a new awareness of golf cart accidents in the Villages. Prior to on-line *************, such incidents were rarely reported. Now "the sun" is reporting golf cart accidents more frequently.
With more and more golf cart traffic, bikes, walkers and cars, we all need to slow down and drive, ride and walk more carefully and defensively.

Although the facts haven't yet been disclosed, publicly, when they are (hopefully), I expect that your assessment will be very close to them. I doubt the cart driver was malicious, probably just a case of recklessly passing a biker too closely (under 3 feet) and oblivious to the fact that she hit him.

The biker who was hit, has a camera in his helmet. The camera has been brought to the Sheriffs office for review....
