Very well done series so far. Very dark comedy. I lived in Minnesota from the late Summer of 1986 through November 1991 and probably came across ten people who actually talk like this. This was while I lived in the downtown Minneapolis area often near the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities main campus. Two of those academic years while at Law School were in one of if not in the biggest dorm on that campus-- Middlebrook Hall. So I did encounter many Minnesotans. Most of the people attending the U were from Minnesota especially the undergrads in the dorm.

Cannot wait to see how this series unfolds.

I absolutely loved the movie when it came out and I think this new series is just as good. It kept me captivated for the whole 1.5 hours.

Martin Freeman is great as a milquetoast turned murderer. For a Brit, he can sure do the accent too.

We lived in Fargo for 25 years but can not figure out why the series started in Bemidji,MN. Have to wait and see. Accents were a little off but still a good show. Ya You Betcha. OOHHHH Ya

The series takes place in Bemidiji because it is suppose to be based on a true event taking place in 2006. The series is actually recorded in Calagry. The Coen brother (produced Fargo) were born and reared in St. Louis Park (Minneapolis) MN and also are executive producers for the series.

The actors selected for this series have captured the mannerisms of the original characters. It is a good series that holds your attention same as The American, Justify, Vikings, TURN

I had never seen a Lord of the Rings movie, so I had no idea who Martin Freeman was as an actor. PBS (WUCF channel 24) was advertising new episodes of the UK show 'Sherlock' back around Christmas, and I love good mysteries. So I watched all three of the 90 minute episodes and it was great, Martin plays Dr. Watson.

Next I noticed Neflix had the first two seasons of Sherlock, six more 90 minute episodes, so I watched those. Really great show, even better than the American 'Elementary' show. That's when I looked up Martin Freeman's resume and saw he was on the UK version of 'The Office', and I had really liked the Office. Netflix had the first two seasons, so I watched those and Martin plays the 'Jim' character, he had the crush on the receptionist and everything was just like the American show.

When Fargo was advertised with Martin Freeman, I made sure to watch. I have to say, it's one of the best TV drama shows I've ever seen. Can't wait until next Tuesday.

Outstanding program. Billy Bob is a scene stealer and great character actor . As far as the accent -of course that is an exaggeration. Coen brothers are true craftsman. The scenery (shot in Calgary) is nonetheless credible as Minnesota.

If you would like to see Billy Bob in another Minnesota based movie-He is in "A simple plan" . As always he brings any role to life.:gc:

That did kind of look like a mountain that is actually in Reno, Nevada in the episode of Fargo last night. http://www.summitpost.org/peavine-peak/269626

I have only been in Fargo at night when I took an Amtrak train from Minneapolis to Seattle back around December 1987. Cool trip except with my often kind of Perils of Pauline kind of experiences, the train broke down in Idaho! Not for long though.

Las Vegas probably is very different from the last time I had been there. This was when moving my parents from Reno, NV to Scottsdale in the late Spring (May) of 1984.

They showed some of Las Vegas in this week's episode of Fargo. Anyone been to Vegas more recently?

Vegas in it's 2014 splendor compared to 30 years ago is something you can't describe in all fairness. We've been many times over the last 15 years and watched in amazement as it continued to grow into what it is today. We now go for an upscale relaxing vacation and gambling is something we do if we don't have shows lined up. If you have the opportunity to revisit I don't think you'll be sorry.

Thanks. I know a University of Minnesota Law School fellow Class of 1989 alumni who was also the roommate of my first real flame Jennifer V. (U of MN Law Class of 1990) She visited Las Vegas around 1989 and decided to stay there. Or, soon moved there. She has been a judge in Clark County for quite some time. She was in the same group (A) of 50 in the First Year Law School Class of 250 or so. I knew her fairly well.

I see she's still there in Las Vegas.

Maybe, I did not put her too much off Nevada with my various stories.

What a great TV show. I'll be very surprised if there isn't a follow-on. Another great limited run TV show, True Detective on HBO, is already in pre-production for season 2. I think you'll see more and more limited production TV shows with well known actors/actresses who don't want to commit to a long term TV show.

The accents do seem quite over-the-top. Very few of the native Minnesotans I ran into my five years around the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus talked like that.

I will miss Fargo but now there is the next season of Bridge. I only spent about two days total in El Paso so not much looks familiar. Most of this was at the University of Texas at El Paso Library back around 2003. They were looking for a Law Librarian and paid to fly me out from Tampa. I kind of blew the lecture I was supposed to give being way too nervous and getting little sleep the night before. Nice people there at that Library back around 2003. And, it seemed like someone was pulling strings to get me back in the game after my very long hiatus from working in an actual library rather than just fighting for survivors/victims rights through any means available. Never did find out who was pulling strings on my behalf.

Funny that El Paso has such a low crime rate while just across the Bridge.... http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_24865165/el-paso-rankings-safest-best-places-families-and

I do see a series the Coen brothers could develop about Molly's father's experiences that he alludes to when something came after them in the night... but he leaves this just hanging out there. I'm surprised that nobody mentioned Molly's last name - Solverson. It seemed obvious to me from the start that she was destined to "solve" the crimes. I really enjoyed the final episode, and was surprised that they tied up the loose ends on both main characters, Malvo and Nygaard. Malvo was shot dead and Nygaard is swimming with the fishes. Clearly this was a classic "deal with the devil" story, with the bad guys ending up dead and the good guys moving on with their lives. Yes, the grocery king story is left hanging, and who knows what the African shoplifting guy was doing in the story, but overall, despite the loose ends, I found the ending satisfying.

I would like to find out what goes on in the minds of writers like the one of Fargo. Where does he get his ideas and the like.

The African shoplifting kid was probably just to show the fate works for good things too like with the shopping king and his finding all the money.

Here's a good review of the Fargo finale from a UK writer who still seems shell shocked by England's being left out of the World Cup competition. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/tv-and-radio-reviews/10915358/Fargo-episode-10-review-fails-to-disappoint.html
