I recently published a post that the moderator soon re classified from the general discussion to the "contractor and business forum". My post was a request from anyone who might know of a hairdresser who would come to a clients home to do hair. I realize that technically the moderator is correct but here is the rub. I had hoped to reach as many responders as possible and this does not meet that need. Only 35 persons have viewed the contractor/business forum, while nearly 300 viewed the general discussion forum. My chances of getting a satisfactory response to my question was reduced by nearly 90%.Contractors and businesses should be limited to the contractor/business forum but persons like myself need as much exposure as possible and we just don't get that in a sub forum.

I have always assumed most forum browsers simply scan the list of titles for today's posts without even paying any attention to the category.

I have never looked at a category. I only look at the title. Maybe try a different title?

Your original post was titled "hairdresser" and was originally posted in the "items for Sale" I looked at it for that reason. I thought someone was selling their hairdresser. LOL The moderator just moved it where he/she thought was appropriate. If you want it moved to general discussion, just ask the moderator to move it.

LOL. I only look at new posts. Am I alone? don't care what forum. unless I'm searching for something.

I generally look at the new posts then decide which ones I "might" be interested in looking at. I concur that your original post was in the one that was for "items for sale". Hope you get the information you're looking for...I've found that the banner needs to be specific for folks to click into the content.

As mentioned, the thread was moved from a misplaced forum to "contractors and services" where it belonged.

Logic dictates that threads should be in appropriate forums or else everybody and everything will end up in "General" and it will have no meaning.

As many have stated, most members review new posts without regard to forum location.

One other poster was also helpful in suggesting that thread titles be clear and meaningful.

Topic has been thoroughly discussed and resolved.

Thread closed.
