Still looking for some interest in a slower paced biking club. Since I cant fiind my way out of a paper bag, I would need someone with knowledge of biking roads and trails in TV.
Ok, this is not motorcycle bikes right? If it is the old peddle bikes, I'm in. I am the proud owner of a Classic Schwin from the 50's and can't wait to ride it in TV...safely.

Here is the link to the Sumter landing club. The riders are at all levels and all styles of bikes. they ride as groups and practice strict safety regulations.

Hi nonie,
I wouldn't mind doing some nice and easy riding when I arrive in TV in Oct/Nov. I used to be a long-distance bicyclist years ago. One of my trips was a bike ride from New York City to Williamsburg, Virginia. Met a lot of nice people along the way. Nowadays, your idea of slow and easy is fine for me. Will Bernie be riding also? Nice meeting you guys the other night. Stay well.

And no spandex allowed, right? Nonie, will you still be there mid-October? We'll be down for about 10 days and ready to ride! Maybe VK2 will lead us all.

Read earlier this week you were leaving the TOTV because of the new format - glad you are working into it!
We are coming in January for two months and will do some slow bike rides on hybrids - hope you're around to join in.

i just happened to misread this title and ended up finding out about your slow and easy biking club out of curiosity...interesting to learn about your past exploits on bikes...maybe i will join you if it is not at 8 a.m. like most other sporting activities here...hard to do when dancing the night away....even though music stops at 10! bike on over to the church on the square for great free musical programs each monday and wed at 6 pm...my favorite new discovery in this wonderful place...

bikini club? Now, that's a good one. The men would not be opposed to you riding a bike while wearing your bikini ... I've seen you and I know that you must own one.

Hey guys, I'm still up for this too ( bike ride, not the bikini lol). If I lead, we will get lost for sure but that's part of the fun. We've only been talking about this for a year. And Noni has already explored one of the trails in Ocala. Let's do it!

No, No nONIE (not to be confused with No, No Nanette). I like the idea of slow and easy. I purchased a Myata touring bike way back in 1983, did a lot of long-distanced riding, and STILL use the same bike today....did I get my money's worth or what! Anyway, looking forward to it in a few weeks.

Linda,
I wont be there until the 26th! Do you think we could plan it for the 27?th.?With everyone comming and going I hope everyone can make it on that date. I think you included everyone so far that is interested.
I think Chuckinka and mrs. Chuckinka wanted to join us but I cant remember when they will be in TV! Everyone needs to take up permanent residence in TV as soon as possible so we can get this club going on a permanent basis.
oops, almost forgot Beady is interested also. Wouldnt it be great to stop for lunch somewhere after our ride?
OK, so anyone else interested in joining our slow and Easy after 9:00 group? Please step forward so we can contact you before our ride. The more the merrier!

Hi slow and easy bicyclers,
So how does October 27th sound to everyone? Mark your calanders, and for those who arent in TV yet we will do it again, and again, and again...........
I'd like to join you but my used $25 bike won't make it up the hills in Amelia. I biked to the Odell Rec Center and did the "I think I can, I think I can" all the way back.

Yes, I was talking bout slow bike riders - no road bikers allowed!
I was looking at bikes in the shop in Spanish Springs last week and all they have are Chinese bikes. I saw another shop on 466 East of Morse but didn't get a chance to stop there - have you looked into local bike shops?
We would like to buy two moderately priced hybrids and don't want to buy Chinese made.

Hello, again, chuckinca,
I have not looked at any bike shops in the TV-area because I am not a resident, yet, but will be in mid-November. Although I used to do quite a bit of long-distance riding 25 years ago, nowadays it is strictly local rides to and fro the fitness center, grocery store, and nearby gin-mill :beer3:
(just kidding - no RWI riding while impaired for me!) :1rotfl:
Anyway, the bike I have, as I mentioned in a previous post, has been really good to me. I continue to use it after all these years, over 20, and it is a Miyata Touring bike. You are making a wise choice in choosing a "Hybrid" bike. The wider tires and upright frame is much more comfortable than my bicycle and also the handlebars will allow you to sit upright; my handlebars are the turn-down racing style. Years ago it was determined that to reduce wind-resistance even touring bikes should have the turn-down type handlebars. That was fine then, but today I ride upright with my hands on the very top of the handlebars. Fortunately, I have two sets of brake levers; one for riding upright and the other when "crunched over".
Good luck in your purchase search. Wish I had the luxury of the internet back in the '80s when I was searching for my bike, but very lucky and happy with the Miyata.

:pepper2::pepper2: I am back now and will be able to join you the first week of Nov. Have to dust off my old 50,s bike. Shows you how slow I am! My husband will also go if it does not fall on Pickleball or golf day. Let us know what day and I love after 9A.M. and LUNCH sounds great!!:beer3:

Time for Tee,
Our biking outing was originally planned for October 27th. Unfortunately I have to pick up my car in Mt. Dora on that day so I wont be able to ride that day. However, a ride in November sounds wonderful. I cant find my way in or out of a paper bag so I still need to find us a leader who knows the Villages well, and has leadership capabilities. (Red are your ears ringing?)
I will keep in touch and perhaps by that time we will have some more interested bikers in town. Im so sorry that Another Linda will be gone by then. All this comming and going has got to stop, we need to work on everyone just STAYING!!

Bogeyboy, I got that part loud and clear, very clever , I just didnt understand confusing a biking club with a bikini club!!!! But hey that sounds like a good idea too! There is every kind of club imaginable in TV so why not a bikini club????
hmmmm, I can think of a few good reasons why not a bikini club! LOL
