skip, I went on the One Blood website and they show The Parrothead Blood Drive as May 3rd but it shows it's at the Saddlebrook Rec Center. Can you verify which Rec. Center it will be at.

We are both in luck. The first day I am eligible to donate blood again after my 56 day (8 week) hiatus is on May 2, 2014.

Thanks for letting us know about the blood drive. I am close to my 2 gallon. This may be the donation that makes it happen.

Keep on donating. If you give platelets (automated donation) you can get your count up very quickly. http://www.oneblood.org/learn/blood-donation-faqs.stml
I am up to 44 donations for One Blood and donations elsewhere when I registered back around 2007. And, I also sometimes donate at One South if they have a blood mobile around and it is time to donate. I probably have another 4 donations at One South since 2007. So, I am just about at 6 gallons. Much of this from giving platelets via the automated process. Not sure if the Villages Parrotshead Club Blood Drive people allow you to give platelets as it is a special machine and takes quite a bit longer.

Thanks for the information. I have done double red blood cells before on the Big Red Bus or they tried to get double blood cells but the technician was a bit pre-occupied with something else so they convinced me to just do a blood donation.

I hope you got there, KathieI, in all the rain? Not much of a problem if you live down by Colony but I am up near the Villages High School in Lynnhaven so it was a wet drive. At least, my iron was OK and I got a hamburger, a free red golf ball, a neat T-shirt, and a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich.
How I will have to wait another 56 days before donating again. Or, donate platelets in a few weeks.

Good to hear. I was there around 12:00 P.M. to 1 P.M. and there did not seem to be many people giving blood while it had been raining. A Jimmy Buffet like singer was at the entrance to Colony during that time.
I did not get any Parrothead like goodies. :(

Yes, I did, Tal, got there around 2:30pm, rain and all. Not many people at that time but I think they did as well as last year, they said. I had a great time, the young man taking my vitals was hysterical. I told him he was raising my BP just by being close to me.. LOL... I love young boys.. hahaha. It was a very easy and delightful experience. I think I might do platelets next time but you have to go to the main office on 441/27. I did get a great Tshirt, a red golf ball and Chik-fil-A coupon.
I always feel so good after donating a pint, makes me feel like I'm doing my share. Sorry I missed you Tal!!

I give blood and feel wonderful that what I give may save someone's life. I could not attend this Blood Drive because it had not been long enough between donating.
