FYI, my number was used for two travel company charges. Received a call from fraud dept at credit card company.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't shop at Target where there was a major breach, but I'm a regular at Micheal's. I'll check our bill a lot closer.

I think you left something out. What does Michael's have to do with it?

Kitty - I also had travel booked on a card I used at Michaels. $4000 worth of airline tickets to United Emarits. Don't know if there is a connection or not, but the credit card company handled it no problem.

I really did not want a new account number, but it's essential to kill the old account. rats.

Michael's was hacked with many cards compromised. It was in the news a week or maybe two ago. The hackers get the information then use that to charge for....travel as the OP stated or other purchases.

You will be inconvenienced in that your card company will issue a new card and card number....you have to change all those automatic billings like village.net.
Good thing is that you are NOT liable for any of the charges. Most issuers have the ability for you to set up alerts with your card... Things like any on line purchases, purchases over a set dollar amount, etc.

It is a real pain. I had to do it for another account. Fortunately I do not use that card for many automatic charges

If only I'd known, might I have taken a free cruise?
