Has anyone used Massey for pest control and lawn care?

We have used Massey from the day we closed on our house. They provided services even when we were living in NY before we moved here permanently. Very happy with their services. Kathy

Yes we have been here over 11 years and have used just about every other company before settling on Massey. I wish I had gone to them first! They do an excellent job and since using them no bug issues in the house!

Had an excellent experience as far as the bugs - not such a good experience with the grass. Fired them after the first year.

We have used them for three years- inside/outside bugs, termite control and fertilizing plants, shrubs and palms - (we no longer have grass.) We have designated fellows for each of those services.

They always call a day ahead to let us know they are coming, have shown up without fail, are respectful, clean and presentable, (as is their equipment) and thorough in their service. They can answer any pertinent questions you might have while they are there. Or you can call the office with questions- they are happy to speak to you.
When they are finished, they write a receipt up, detailing what was done, (or found) and if satisfied, you sign it and get a copy.

We are very pleased

We have used them since we closed on our house. Have no complaints and they come out if we need them to in addition to their regular things.

We started out with them, but changed and bundled the entire package with Stellar. Their full package includes all lawn, shrub, bug and fertilizer into an easy payment. Paid in full for the first year and have not been disappointed yet.

We have used Massey since we closed in January, very courteous and prompt. They have provided excellent service.

Using Massey--having issues with lawn....and bugs....certainly thinking about changing. Had the lawn guy come last week and told them I am very displeased. They requested I give them 30 days to try and fix the concerns--one week and counting--no change

We chose Dean's over Massey. The main reason was the constant phone calls and showing up at the front door when we were moving in. It bordered on harassment. I would tell him each time that we were just getting settled in, asked him to leave his card and told him we would call him. I also didn't like the way he made it sound like no other company compares to their superior service.
When the young man from Dean's showed up at the door, I asked for his card and told him we would call him. We ended up signing with Dean's and have been extremely happy with their services. They've always been very professional and responsive to any questions we have.

Dean's will also give you 10 per cent off your contract price if you allow them to put a small advertising sign in your shrub border. Remember to ask and get your discount. Many of my neighbors got the discount as they all have these advertising signs in their shrub borders. I think a couple of them called up and got the deal afterwards. Worth a try.

My advice to you: CHOOSE a pest control company that is "eco-friendly" and preferably uses more natural products. Just moved to a neighborhood where (2) people had brain cancer (present house Owner passed from) (1) has neck cancer and the next door neighbor just passed from cancer. COMMON element: almost everybody uses Massey here ..........SCARY....BUT pesticides CAN cause cancer BUGS do not!

Massey provides good service for us. When we first got here we did have problems with one of their techs concerning our lawn. I called and asked that a supervisor come out. He took soil samples and discovered the problem and within a few weeks our lawn looked great

I am happy with Massey bug and pest control, but very dissatisfied with their lawn and shrub service. My lawn looks like a weed patch and I have 5 shrubs which were attacked by bugs and look like they will be dying in the very near future. Have called Massey numerous times, but have gotten no satisfaction. I am thinking of going with Dean.

k2at,
I am not a turf expert, but if it is weeds that are making your lawn look bad (and not mole crickets or brown patch or some such thing) in addition to weed treatment, it may be helpful to have the lawn mowed at a longer height, at least for part of the year.
Maybe an inch longer might make a difference.

By far, the prettiest, healthiest looking home lawns I have seen here, appear to be cut that way. The shortest lawns seem to be the weediest.

Do you know what is eating your shrubs? If it is something like grasshoppers, there is no seasonal treatment to deter them. Until you can get the expert's help, you can safely mix up some sudsy dish water (lemon dish soap is pretty good) and spray/squirt it on your shrubs. Bugs don't like the taste and will usually move on. (it WILL wash off in the rain, and must be reapplied)
It may be a bit of a chore, but might be of help in the meantime.

I have had Massey for ~ 5years now. The positive comments are that whenever I call with an issue they are there the next day. The negative is that I have to keep calling.

Our lawn guy tells me of the 175 lawns he takes care of those that use Dean's have the best lawns. He tells me Massey does the bare minimum.

Now that conclusion has to be a big stretch!

I have used Massey for almost two years. Im satisfied with the service I have received from them. They do the bugs and the grass. If I need any kind of lawn sprinkler work ,I use the company that installed them. I think they also give discounts if you sign up for the first time.

I have heard and seen the same thing. I noticed a yard that needed mowing really bad and I called the owner. They called Massey and were told it was raining the day it was to be mowed. Looked bad for the owner and other neighbors having to put up with this.

But, please use them for everything but lawn mowing. They are a very good with pest control.

Had Massey for five years. We did everything this winter that they suggested but to no avail. We have (had) a ton of weeds, mole crickets and moles!!! They could not identify the mole crickets so they sent a supervisor and he could not identify either. Went with Zoysia Green and have gotten rid of the moles, working on the mole crickets and the weeds are subsiding after one treatment!

Shaved Irish Spring soap mixed in hot water has worked very well for us. as you've said, it must be reapplied after a rain.

Massey is OK. I signed with them when I closed on my house a year ago. They are expensive and do like to sell you lots of services. After my episode with drywood termite swarmers (there is a separate thread on this), I'm not sure I will continue with Massey when my contract runs out. They were too quick to give me the most expensive and disruptive solution to my termite problem. I had to do extensive research myself, and solved the problem. (see my separate thread). After a year here, I think there is a lot of pest control the homeowner can do him/herself.

great for termite and pest control. Not happy with the yard. spending a lot of money, and the tech says I have drought conditions. I has rained daily for the last 45 days! Plus if I think it's dry at all I run my sprinklers for an hour a zone.

We had them a few months and fired them last week. They scalped the yard, ignored problem areas that were pointed out to them 3 times, charged for pulling weeds from flower beds that they never touched. Also cut (or should I say ripped) the grass right after a heavy rain! Would not recommend them.
