:2excited:
I'm not kidding this really happened today at Turtle Mound. The first birdie came when I overdid it getting out of a sand trap and hit a sandhill crane. The second was on the final tee, where I overdid a chip shot and hit what was described by the girls as a small black and white bird.
Thankfully, both birds were OK...
ps I really like golf, but until I have better control, I'll be worried about hitting people, as well as birds --

It was a great time golfing today Kitty. I can't say I've ever seen anyone get a double birdie quite that way before! Glad the birds wern't hurt. The second bird was actually taking a ride on the ball as you hit it under him.

While golfing truman we had to hit over water and noticed something on the green prior to teeing off. After studying the object for a moment we came to the conclusion it was a turtle. Knowing that the turtle moves very slowly, I decided to tee off because the odds of hitting that turtle from across the water was slim to none. The turtle was at the far left corner of the green. I teed off and sure enough I hit it. My golf ball bounced off the turtles back and onto the middle of the green. I couldn't believe it. The turtle continued to make its way to the water seemingly unharmed. I felt so bad afterwards.

I ave 2 biddies to my credit, just not on the same day or course. A dove and a crane. Just hang in there and don't let it shake you.

Kitty, have you noticed how, without fail, the slow golfers are always ahead of you and the fast golfers end up behind you?

My husband (non golfer) killed a goose at a company charity golf event in PA. Needless to say, the next year they let him drive the beverage cart.

animal karma restored....late today after I had hit the 2 birds, I saw a young turtle crossing Pinellas Pl near the Gilchrist po boxes. There should be a turtle crossing sign there, but anyway, I lifted the critter to safety on the greener side of the street while another couple intent on rescue had spun their car around to come back for the little thing. I do like living here.

LOL, BK.
Now that I think of it, you are right. That is a golfing truism if ever there was one!

True story. My wife got a "real birdie" on her first round of golf and on her very first hole. At the time, she had no idea how unusual it was for her 20 yard chip shot to roll into the cup on that par four.
When we got to the second hole (a par three) she looked at it and said "this one isn't long, I should do better.". I laughed so hard that tears were coming down my cheeks! I think she had a triple but she claims it was only a double bogey.
She has become a good golfer. But we will always have fond memories of that first time on a golf course. Keep swinging never give up.

I forgot to say earlier that Kitty hit the ball about 150 yards on her first ever shot off the tee. We were shocked!

Good morning everyone.

150 on her first shot? I was just gonna ask her to play golf with me, but no sir. I am not going to be further humiliated. Her first shot?
Wow Kitty. Just another great skill added to your many.
Hugs.

Kitty, I see this is an older Thread (May) any real birdies yet? Three or four private lessons will do more for your golf game than anything else you can do.
Golfing and making memories! Have fun and keep swinging never give up.
