Hello everybody! We closed on a 2/2 cottage in the village of Dunedin last week. We are not ready to retire just yet! We will be coming down on the July 4th weekend for 5 days. We will be taking delivery of our new furniture at that time and take care of a few things. We will be coming back for 2 weeks in October, to put the final touches on the house. We are hoping to rent it out at least during the prime months of Jan-Feb-Mar.
We are very excited and hope to retire within the next 2-3 years!
I have a couple of questions.... Hihi!
I have seen "frog" or "frogs" mentioned. What does it refer to exactly? Pardon me but my native language is French, I am clueless, haha!
Also, is there any French Canadian clubs?
Thank you!
Jo Ann

Down here in TV, a 'frog' is someone who's going to be a Villager until they 'croak,' and are taken out 'feet first.' Welcome and bienvenue. :)

Where in CT are you from? I'm from Plainfield originally but lived in Enfield before coming here. Have been here for 11 yrs and love it. I'm sure you will too. Welcome.

Thanks onslowe...I guess we will become frogs...haha!
Hello mfp509, we are in Fairfield. I'm not sure where Plainfield or Enfield is. My husband is from Ct. He knows the State well, he was with the StatePolice.

Welcome Jojo. I too am from CT (Rocky Hill) and also own a CYV that we bought this past August. My wife and I also are not yet retired and come down 3 or 4 weeks a year. You will not have any problems finding renters for those months.

That winter was TERRIBLE! I swore after that, I would never spend another winter in CT. We were snowed in for 5 days (could not open the door to get out of the house) They had to bring in "the big trucks" to remove the snow. The plows couldn't even handle it.
Most of my friends in Stratford & Bpt were with no power for days. Fortunately we had ours.
Did I mention how happy I was this winter to NOT see snow? LOL

Thank you all for the welcome! Glad to see that others are from our area. My husband was raised in Fairfield. And he plays golf around here a few times a week! He is salivating just thinking of all the golf he will be playing once we are in TV!!

Welcome to TV we too are from CT Shelton/Trumbull. We thought we would do the summers there and winters here until we spent our first six months here. We went back up and sold that first year. No looking back. I really miss my family, but just could not take so many things about CT. We are working on getting the kids to move down this way too. Again glad you are here even if it's for a short time. Come visit the CT club when you are here longer.:024:

Welcome Jojo - yep, the waiting is brutal. We are in Ohio - my husband and I bought a home in Collier last August - knowing we were 3 years from retirement. Can't believe it has already been almost a year - proves that time will fly as we count down to retirement. We try to come down as often as possible to get our "golf and pickleball fix." We certainly don't want to wish time away - but come on July, 2016! :)
