There is talk of changing the holes to speed up play........????????????
NOT in favor of this.... and have asked many ...... not one person thinks it is a good idea, of the many I have asked.........

If it is to speed up play, then start enforcing some of the rules of etiquette.... play on the appropriate level hole for your ability, walk quickly off ( or drive off ) to the next hole, rather than talk all the way to your cart, hit no more than the allowed double bogie, do not mulligan at more than one hole. .......

Just me, thinking out loud......

Gee, you sound like a golfer instead of whatever those other people are. If you're running for anything you've got my vote! :agree:

It will slow down the play. There will often be an extra hole between a golfer's ball and the hole they're actually aiming for. Then there will be added goofin' around to decide what to do about it!! And then it will be arguing and more time wasted.

If they want to speed up play, they should tell everyone to not waste time raking bunkers and repairing pitch marks......oh wait.....nevermind.

Do I get a larger golf ball that is easier to hit? I am not a golfer, for many reasons, the main one being I cannot carry enough insurance (big grin), so I have just been watching the debate, very interesting.

Here is the reliable source, from golfthevillages.com
Beginning in June, based on an emerging and growing concept in the world of golf, and request from some residents, we are going to offer a trial period of 6 inch golf holes. The trial period will consist of implementing the 6 inch hole on both the El Santiago and Sandhill Executive courses.

The normal golf hole will still be cut, with the additional 6 inch golf hole available to anyone that wishes to give it a try! The intent is not to replace the regular golf hole, but provide additional options to our residents. After the trial period, we will evaluate if and how it can be incorporated into our golf program.

Remember this is (was) "Florida's Friendliest Hometown". I think the proposal was to take two or three executive courses and enlarge the holes on a trial basis.

I don't have a problem with that proposal. Neither do I have an issue with having the Ambassadors being more aggressive on slow play and proper ediquette on the golf courses.

Seems the hole is only going to be 7/8th's of an inch larger all around.
The original hole diameter is 4.25inches and that was probably a result of mere chance more than anything else.

Try if you can, on the two courses that will be punched with the new holes....then tell us exactly why you like or dislike, will be interesting to hear what people have to say.

The ball will still stop on the edge of the hole and not fall in.
