I had a good friend tell me she went to get egg drop soup from China Gourmet and she had a terrible reaction of her upper eye lids swelling and her husbands lids swelled to a lesser degree. So..what on earth could this be? Anyone else have this happen to them?

Do your friends have any allergies to peanuts or seafood? There is not much in egg drop soup other than chicken broth and eggs and maybe corn starch. Maybe they came in contact with something else elsewhere like pesticides, pollen pulled in by the car air intake.
I hope they recovered fast.

Do you know if they use MSG in their food preparation?
Many people have a reaction to it and that is a possibility.

That's interesting Indy, You mentioned corn starch. I took out my corn starch to read what the content of it was. It IS gluten free but it does contain calcium sulfates. Sulfites HAVE blown up my eyes as well. I 'll mention this to the friend.
