Morning sounds

As I sit on my lanai in the early morning, I have a mockingbird mewing like a kitten and a barking tree frog sounding like a lost puppy.....what next? And isn't it great!

Next is lawn mowers and garbage trucks.

Yes, the morning sounds are wonderful. I have fish crows that say, "Uh-oh, uh-oh". The frogs are great in the mornings and the evenings. I have one who sticks itself to my kitchen window when the light is on at night and eats all the bugs that show up.

I'm anxiously awaiting frog mating season when all of the ponds are alive with, "Hey baby, hey baby".

Ah yes, the good old sounds of morning!

You awaken to the sound of a cat verbalizing that they want something to eat followed by the grinding sounds of the old bones creaking and cracking as you reluctantly strain to sit up on the side of your bed.

You then make your move to get up... minutes after sitting up... under 30 minutes if your lucky, followed by your trekking from the room, quiet mutterings originating from your throat and fingers scratching your old booty or back of your head en-route to the bathroom.

You finally arrive at your destination and the wonderful sounds continue as you hear the moans while in the act of sitting and groans from arising when finished. You then make your way to your final morning destination, thankful that you made it by noon time.

Ah yes, thankful for those good old wonderful sounds of morning, and then spending your entire day anticipating the joys of doing it all over again tomorrow.

Orioles calling to each other, Carolina Wrens doing the same, Blue Jays scolding, and, if your lucky, the melodious call of the Eastern Bluebird. Then there is an occasional unidentified call that is probably a Mocking Bird warming up.

I like the sound of my Cockatiel from behind his cage cover in the morning. It's the first thing I hear. After he hears someone stirring, he starts with Good morning, How are you, and then continues on with a bit of self admiration, as in I'm such a pretty birdie. Natter, natter, natter with some more words and whistles until he's uncovered. It's hard to be in a bad mood after listening to those morning sounds.

LOL, I moved here from a house where i left the over sink light on all night for the little guy with his sticky fingers on the window glass. nice memory, carol.

Doug, that wasn't snarky, that was downright mean (and hysterical).

I am so not a morning person. The only sound I want to hear is silence -- not even the footpad of a beloved kitty.

I'm not a morning person either....way too many years of working night shift....There may be no hope for me. Haha!

But I do LOVE the late evening, and early morning (like 1:00 am) sounds from our lanai overlooking Evans Prairie. The birds and frogs really get going after about 10pm. If I turn off all the lights and just sit on the Lanai and listen, I become totally relaxed and can actually go to bed and sleep. (This from someone who is usually in bed at 3am and up at 10am on my days off)

Those critters may help me get onto a schedule that actually matches my husbands, for which he will be forever grateful!

It really is sort of magical to sit and listen, so peaceful! Never thought about that when we bought our lot. The view at night is even better than the view during the day!!
