I went to my Book Club today and the conversation led around to the fact that everyone is surprised that The Villages or veterans orgs. that are in The Villages don't do anything to celebrate the 4th of July. Was it done at one time and there was a problem? Really miss the patriotic displays, parades and fireworks that even the smallest town puts on up north. In my town, contribution jars are put out at checkout points in local stores to raise $10,000 a year and then the local Dunkin Donuts franchise would match it. Shuttle points are set up around the city to shuttle people into the high school football area where families have picnics, ice cream and vendor trucks are allowed and at dark fireworks go for about 20mins. I don't see why this would not work at the polo grounds.
