the wish for public transportation in tv needs to be changed to wishing for better public transportation as sumter county transit does provide both scheduled bus service thru tv

I agree w/MMC24's list, especially that we need actual security gates for every Village.

Also agree w/Handie's suggestions. I think Trolley Service would be great.

We also need:

Another facility like Katie Belle's, as it gets very crowded
Trader Joe's
JoAnne Fabrics
Calico Corners
Hobby Lobby
Michael's

I was in Michael's in Ocala today, and the cashier told me that Michael's will open in TV in Oct. 08. I hope it's true! I had previously seen somewhere that an AC Moore is coming to TV. I'd be happy with either, as they are fairly similar AFAIK.

Also, ditto on the security gates.

I know a lot of people would like to see real security gates. We were told when we lived in another part of Florida, that if we would "gate" our community, we would then be responsible financially for our roads. The county would no longer keep them up as they do not keep up roads that limit access. This is just a thought. Is having a "real security gate" important enough that we would want the expense of the upkeep of our streets.

For those who have never heard of "timmies' it is a Tim Horton coffee and donut facility which better than anything I have had in Florida. Mainly located in Canada but starting to branch out to New York state. For the lucky owners it is a "licence to steal"..I live in a city of 50,000 and we have 8 tim horton restaurants and all are incredibly busy all day long. They are all drive through(but you can go inside as well) so you just order your coffee and donut etc (they do have breakfast sandwiches as well) and you are through in a minute. Streets in town are blocked with people getting in line in the morning to get their 'fix". The coffee must have cocaine or something because people cannot start their day without it. Wish I had the money and the permission to start one in TV because I would be rich in no time and would treat you all to a great 'happy hour'.

Looks like there are over 3000 of these fast food restaurants in Canada and a few US states. There are even more of these than McDonalds in Canada.

Being from Canada, I'm a huge Tim Horton fan. In fact, I got so excited thinking about Timmie's coffee I just sent a blank post.

Tim's coffee is similar to the water in TV .... they put something in it that makes you return again, and again, and again. 040

While driving thru Ontario last year, being slow pokes on the road, many folks passed us by. But, as they had to stop at each new town, to get their 'Timmy's' fix of coffee, we saw the same vehicles pass us time after time in a couple of hours. One yellow sports job passed us three times.

A friend from Ont. is coming next week with a few pounds of Timmy's for us to enjoy. Maybe I'll call in security to guard the front door while we sip. ;D

and now I'll add one of my own. I wish TV had a "real" park area. Part of the land west of the new hotel in Lake Sumter would be nice. With a walking path on softer ground (marked for distance and seats for catching your breath), seating near the water area, tables, washroom facilities, trees. Just a place to sit, watch the water, catch a breeze, talk with folks, maybe play a game of chess. No noise, no busy things going on like in the business area.

Russ_Boston

We have a 'Timmies' next to me in RI and it gets swamped by Dunkin Donuts.

I think the 'Timmies' thing might be akin to the Krispy Kreme hysteria that engulfed us 5 years ago. Everyone in the northeast jumped at the chance to buy Krispy Kreme franchises and they thought they would be printing money.

What happened you ask? Well EVERY one of them in Maine, New Hampshire, MA, RI and Vermont went out of business within 5 years. All of them done in by the devotion to Dunkin Donuts. Is Dunkin Donuts that good? Is Krispy Kreme that bad? NO but it goes to show that regional donut and coffee tastes are strong. In Canada and some northern states it's Tim Hortons. In NE and mid-atlantic it is Dunkin. In the northwest it is Starbucks. In the south it is Krispy Kreme.

Florida seems to have them all so let the wars begin!

...links from the Sumter and Marion County library systems to the FL Victim Services Directory. http://myfloridalegal.com/directory

Got one after a few requests over less than a week I believe at Lake County Library System in 2006. http://lakeline.lib.fl.us/internet_directory/category.aspx?IDDirectoryCategory=24

Some FL public libraries have taken going on eight years and more to get a link to this resource.

It is very frustrating to say the least when you are trying to get links like this at the Lake County Library System http://lakeline.lib.fl.us/internet_directory/category.aspx?IDDirectoryCategory=24 from libraries all over the US to their respective victims services directories-- if that state even has one that is-- and your home town library systems (the Villages) do not have a link that works to the FL Victim Services Directory.

Fought for 4 years or so for working links from Palm Harbor's 2 public libraries-- and finally got them in mid 2004 http://www.eastlakelibrary.org/ELCL/links.htm http://www.palmharborlibrary.org/links/florida.htm-- to this Victim Service Directory, but it kind of hurts my credibility when I e-mail from the Villages suggesting librarians get a link to their states' versions of a resource list for victims and two of the three library systems in TV do not even have these links.

Maybe some other TOTV users could e-mail the Sumter and Marion County librarians to get links to the FL Victim Services Directory. I doubt if this would cost much money or time on the web master's time.

Thought Mr. Gary Corsair's May 28, 2007 article in the Villages Daily Sun on me and my efforts in this area of links for victims/survivors from the TV would prompt some movement in this area on the part of Sumter and Marion County librarians, but from their websites nothing much has happened.

Thanx Beady, I'll be anxious for the Sams also.
Where we live in NC, the Sams and Costco are across the street from each other and we have memberships to both. But always seem to buy alot more at the Costco. And I love their Kirkland brand of skincare . . Guess I can order stuff I can't live without online til they get one here. Or someone told me they have one near Orlando, may have to go for a monthly fix.

We also have a Sam's club and a Costco near where we live today and I have belonged to both in the past. I have found the prices, quality, and availability to be MUCH better at Costco. Maybe it's what I buy. The closest one currently to the Villages is in Altamonte Springs and if I have to travel there once a month to buy the things I want, so be it.

Barefoot, You mentioned noisy restaurants. We have found this too. Will go out for a nice meal--often at one of the country clubs and we can not hear each other talk. I love the quiet restaurants.

If anyone knows of a quiet restaurant, we'd love to hear about it. ;D

Oh, sorry Topicop, :cop: just realized this isn't on topic.
