The relocation person at TV recommended 3 moving companies for our move from the Cleveland Ohio area to TV. Does anyone have any recent experience with any of these?
Suddath Relocation Systems, The Villages
Agent for United Van Lines
Jean George
Atlantic Relocation Systems
Agent for Atlas Van Lines, Inc.
Tim Snyder
Hill’s Van Service of Marion Co
Agent for Mayflower Transit
Brenda Carroll

We moved from Cleveland. I will try to find my paper work with cost and company name for you. We lived in Westpark, Lakewood and Westfield Center near Medina. Please PM us to help you have a Villages contact and get acquainted with us and local areas!

We are in the process of moving as we speak (NW Ohio to TV). Make sure you get as many estimates as you can. All of our estimates were within 500 pounds of total weight. The United company was almost double the cost of the others. We didn't go with the lowest quote, but choose the company that had the most recommendation from local realtors. We didn't use any of the moving companies from TV Relocation. Good luck.

Before I retired I owned a moving company and was an agent of North American Van Lines in NE Ohio. There are two companies in The Cleveland area that I can recommend.
Moving Solutions
Cleveland Moving Company | Moving Solutions (http://www.yourmovingsolutions.com)
Andrews United

Get at least two estimates, the lowest is not always the best. Always take replacement cost protection.

We used Suddath for our move from Virginia. They moved our items into their storage because our house wasn't completed. When they came out to the house with our stuff, they had lost several boxes and some of our furniture was damaged. Regarding the lost items, they would only reimburse us a small amount unless we had the ORIGINAL receipt of how much we had paid for those items. Each box when packed in Virginia had a number sticker placed on them and when they arrived here at our house in The Villages, some of the boxes had 5 stickers on the, ( ??? ) Trying to work with the claims person afterwards was a nightmare. I realize some people had great service from them....we didn't. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SUDDATH !!!

We are in the process of moving and got quotes from three different companies. Here's what we know so far.
Suddath never bothered to call back after contacting them several times.
Allstate wants a huge deposit and did not send a survey person to the home and did a phone quote. Huge red flag so we will not use them, although they gave a cheap price.
Mayflower came to our home and did the survey and said they would contact me in 2 days with a quote. A week went by and I had to call them and they gave us a reasonable quote. We did not like the fact they were irresponsible with the calling so will not use them.
United and Atlas also came and gave quotes. Liked them both and will use Atlas as they were the most professional, but the most expensive.
We were estimated at 6,000 lbs. with prices ranging from $4200-$4700. That is with us packing all boxes. None of them will give a guaranteed delivery date and the best I can get is a 2-12 day timeframe.
We bought all of our boxes from Home Depot as they are much cheaper there. $1.36 for large box. $10 for wardrobe cartons.
Make sure you request a guaranteed price not to exceed. This way if you are under weight you will get money back. If you get a binding quote there will not be a refund if your under the quoted lbs.
Good luck and hope your move goes smooth.

I used Mayflower moving from Los Angeles to TV, 6 years ago. Excellent service, top quality and conscientious movers and driver and I was very impressed. They arrived when they said they would and nothing was lost or broken.
When I moved my ex-husband to TV in Sept, I used the same Mayflower company to move him but because he was in Palm Springs, they could not get to his house to give us an estimate so I faxed them the list of furniture, amount of boxes, etc and they gave me a rough written estimate based on that.
The driver was totally aware of all this and showed me the weight of his empty truck and when he arrived in TV, showed me the weight of the truck filled with our furniture. I knew we were overcharged based on the estimates and within a very short time, I received a refund check from them without having to ask for it.
Again, very satisfied with professionalism, handling and speed. Nothing broken or lost.

I'm glad someone else brought up Suddath. I didn't want to mention a particular company in my earlier post. They moved us from Denver to Florida back in the early 2000's. We were supposed to put our belongings in dry storage and store my classic car in a locked trailer. They did just the opposite and I ended up with several scratches on the car from being stored in an area with heavy inside traffic ($4000 damage). Everything else we had was stored in a trailer that leaked. We open many boxes that were dry on the outside, but were full of wet items. They had repacked them. Items were also missing. Almost all boxes had lost their shipping tags. Gee, I wonder why. We called this the move from HELL. (We had been moved several times by our company prior to this). Suddath never said sorry or anything else about the move. I could go on for many more paragraphs about their service, but won't. Please consider other companies before them. Thanks for letting me rant.

A lot seems to depend on the individual team packing, loading and unloading the truck - not necessarily the moving company company.
We used Atlas. The driver and his wife were:

Our move from Indiana went perfectly. No damage, delays or disappointments. On the off-chance we ever had to move again, I would use them - no matter who they were working for.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the info. Moving is certainly stressful.

Anyone ever use Two Men and a Truck for moving?
We are using Two Men and a Truck this Saturday to move from mid-Michigan to Collier. They will load the truck Saturday and since they don't travel Sundays or on holidays, they park the truck in a secure lot and the same two men who loaded it drive to The Villages Tuesday and Wednesday. They don't share the truck.

Leaving from Detroit area to Collier mid June. I will be calling Two Men & A Truck tomorrow. I like they do not share the truck and the same two men drive. Seems less chances for error that way. Did they give you a guaranteed delivery date? Thanks for sharing this.

I'm also interested in their cost and how the moved worked out for you. I will be moving from Adrian, Michigan to the Village of Charlotte. After this past winter, I am trying to get my Mom to move to Florida sooner than planned. So far, it hasn't worked!
I used Two Men and a Truck when I moved locally in Virginia. They did a great job!

I called Two Men & A Truck a few weeks ago moving from Warren, Mi. The price given was 8-10 thousand dollars for moving 6,000 lbs. We are only bringing one bedroom set so that's really expensive.
I ended up going with Mayflower for a little over $4,000 and they will be coming June 24th. If you don't read any horror stories from me that will mean everything went well.

Full truck from MI to TV was $8000. The truck made it to the house before we finished the closing and everything made it without anything broken or dinged up. Could have done for less $'s but not with the peace of mind using 2 men and they did the move without adding any more stress than you get with a long distance move.

Yikes, that is pricey! I moved from northern Virginia back home to Michigan nine years ago and it was around $3,000 -- not a whole house but a lot of stuff! I used Hunter then.
I'm probably only going to move a bedroom suite, curio cabinet, Mom's lift chair and a TV cabinet. I've been thinking of hiring someone to load a u-Haul, pay a friend to drive it down and hire someone to unload it. I'm thinking of asking my aunt's brother to drive it as he drives their trailer to the TV area every year. He is very handy and I could pick his brain on a few projects.
