For those of you Villagers originally from New York State who still maintain summer homes up this way.....we've been watching the tornado warnings since before 4 p.m...........below I've jotted down the towns where they've had tornado damage.....more news to come.
Associated Press * Wall Street Journal
ALBANY, N.Y. — The National Weather Service says spotters have reported apparent tornado damage with trees and power lines down and a home destroyed as severe thunderstorms packing high winds and large hail move eastward through Schenectady and Albany counties.
The weather service has posted a tornado warning .......
************************************************** *******
The meteorologists have been telling people to take SHELTER.
Steve Caporizzo on Channel 10 Albany, N.Y. along with two other meteorologists have been on........telling everyone to get into an interior room with no windows as he saw that the first tornado was "on the ground". Non stop coverage......
HUGE HAIL..........baseball sized hail.
Some of the homes with damage from a "tornado on the ground" were in Delanson, N.Y., Duanesburg, N.Y., Altamonte, N.Y.; ..........Schenectady County, Albany County, Delaware County, etc. Herkimer County, Dutchess County....and so on. Lots of towns.
Two 18 wheeler trucks blown over by tornado winds......one a FEDEX long distance carrier........lots of trees uprooted, barns down, etc. The photos are just coming in.
A funnel cloud over Bern, N.Y. Windows blown out of home in Altamonte, N.Y.
As Steve says, echoed by the reporter out in the field, these tornados are not like the ones out west or in the Midwest, but big enough.
It's been raining with murky skies here all day, but I'm glad the storms didn't continue east.........
Just figured anyone with homes in the above counties might want to call back "home" to see if everything is o.k.
