Are those of you on United Healthcare The Villages Medicare Complete Going to participate in their House Calls program? A medical professional Will visit you in your home at no cost to you.
This is fine for those who need it, but I am wondering the reasoning for those who are well. Seems quite expensive for United Healthcare. What are they looking for? Any thoughts? Am deciding whether to participate or opt out.

I guess Marcus Welby is coming back to work.
I would not trust anyone else.

We both felt it would be a duplication of services and couldn't determine any real value, so we opted out. As you suggest, though, people who are homebound or who have transportation issues may skip important appointments (which can drive up costs), and I can see how that program might be especially useful to them. UHC must justify the cost in preventable claims.

It may be to assess if there are risk factors in the home (as in tripping hazards) and general cleanliness. Even a couple of minutes in someone's home can tell you volumes about their mental status and how well they are taking care of themselves. I can see why they may feel it is worth doing and that (in the long run) it will save money on claims.
