Well, not for everyone but it was for me....

I've always wanted a hot spot so that I could do work on my laptop while traveling. We travel 4 hours each way at least once a month to see my son and I've never liked just sitting in the car that long doing nothing. So I went on line to the ATT website and chatted with a representative. Now just so you know I currently have two I-phones with AT&T to begin with. My bill for 700 minutes a month was $165. I've always thought that was alot but I just couldn't give up our I-phones.

I did the online chat and told the rep what I wanted. I was just checking the price and expecting her to say another $60 on top of my current bill to get a hotspot.

She told me that I could get 10 gig of data and a hot spot on my laptop for $15.00 less than I am currently paying! $150 a month. That means I can surf the net while I ride in the car. I was so excited! Then she said if I have any additional items like an Ipad or whatever I can pay $10 a month more and add them. Now this might not seem like a deal if you use a trac phone and pay a lower amount for a phone and are happy not having an I-phone, but I love technology and love having it at my fingertips. :pepper2:

Well, it seems like a good deal to me. When my Sprint contract was up last summer, I went to an AT&T store and asked about their service because their hot spot is always on, as compared to Sprint's, which you have to call to have turned on. I also have an Ipad with a $30/month data plan through AT&T over and above my Sprint phone. They couldn't match Sprint's price, or so they said.

We are paying $175 for two sprint phones, unlimited data, talk, text, (which I don't think we use much of), plus the $30 for the iPad, and another $20/month for 3 gigs of hot spot when we use it. It used to be you were only charged for the days you had the hot spot on, but now you're charged for the whole month.

So maybe I need to rethink AT&T. My husband uses the phone a lot for SCORE work, but I rarely talk on my phone. In fact, mostly I just use it in the car to check email.

Sounds like you would really save by switching. I received the device in FedX the next day. I'm going to do a trial run with it this week to see how it works.

We have a share plan with Verizon, with a total of 5 iPhones (I know, don't ask), any one of them can be a wi-fi hot spot with no additional charges. Very easy to use. No need to get a data plan for an iPad if you always have your iPhone with you.

Do you pay extra for each phone? What I basically did was get a new device added and upped my data to 10 gig which would suit my needs. My point to get across was that hot spots are not nearly as expensive as they used to be. I watched a couple of youtube videos on how to make your device a hot spot which I think maybe what you have done. Can you tell me how much a month it costs for 5 phones and how much data did you get with that? Just curious.

Would this hot spot work with Galaxy Pro Tablet? I just got it today and need to have Internet access everywhere if that's possible? I have AT&T for cell phone so I'll check into it tomorrow.

I should be packing but played with new toy all day. I love it. Oh well ill work like a dog tomorrow.

I have AT&T as my cell phone provider and the mobile hot spot works great. My wife and I own a travel agency - we frequently travel and have to check in on our clients daily from the road. Two weeks ago we were on NCL's Pride of America Hawaii cruise. We used the mobile hot spot each morning with my laptop to check email and process reservations on the internet and the AT&T hotspot worked flawlessly. Saved me a bunch from having to purchase an internet package from the ship.

We have the 10 GB/month plan which is more than enough for our needs. Tippyclubb yes the hotspot will work with a Galaxy Pro Tablet and any device that has wireless capability. We are on the family share plan (we have two sons in college also on our plan) - 4 phones and 1 tablet (my Ipad mini with cell data enabled). I can setup a wireless hotspot either from my iphone or my ipad.

Used my new hotspot for the first time on a two hour trip to the beach this past weekend. It did go in an out a few times depending on the reception, but overall I was very pleased. It definitely helped me kill the time and concentrate on surfing the net instead of concentrating on my hubby's driving. :-)
