Vikingsholm (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1158)
I used to see this island in my occasional trips around Lake Tahoe but never actually visited this Island. Same with Alcatraz Island in San Francisco Bay. Often seen but never visited.
Any TOTVers been there? Emerald Bay SP (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=506)

A few times. Had a Condo in the 80's in Tahoe City and spent just about every vacation day there for nearly ten years. Sold it so we could vacation somewhere else. Our youngest daughter was married on a rental yacht (Harrah's) in Emerald Bay. Much less than the conventional wedding in a church & hall.
Lived in the East Bay area of SF Bay for 40 years and never went to Alcatraz.
Did you every drive onto Treasure Island in SF Bay from the Oakland/SF Bay Bridge? It was a Naval Base from WWII up to about 15 years ago. The former base housing for the senior officers are now rental units controlled by the City of SF. Many (if not all) are rented below market value to people in the know - senior city employees.

added Emerald Bay Pic looking northeast
Vikingsholm is on the shoreline at about the 6 o'clock position on the pic. The island has a rocky hill about 150 high with a "stone structure on top that looks like a miniature castle is the "Tea House" built during the same time that Vikingsholm was constructed, from 1928-29."
