I am about to embark on an auto search for a new car and have focused on these two vehicles as a start. I am interested in some info on the following:
Performance
availability of parts mechanical /body
maintenance service/ location /need
any standard electronics/bluetooth
preference of dealer
can one negotiate price

My vote is for a Mini - have had one for over 7 years and still love to "drive". You need to test drive both though to see which one fits.

You might also look at consumer reviews on these vehicles. I use Official Kelley Blue Book New Car and Used Car Prices and Values (http://www.kbb.com/)

We looked at the Mini, and even though I'm a BIG guy I thought it was just a bit snug, and a ton of fun to drive. My wife was scared off by Consumer Reports claims that it's not terribly reliable. But everyone I've asked who owns one loves it and haven't heard complaints about maintenance. But the car was for her, so I let her buy what her head said was best, a Prius V wagon. Uninspiring!
