Thought it might be fun to share some big and little things that you have seen or experienced here that were happy, nice, lovely, good, and kind.
I will start.
We were at a party recently with our daughter Helene who enjoys sparkling earrings and bracelets. A friend walks in who knows us all and knows Helene's enchantment with fashion jewelry. She chatted with Helene for a few minutes gave her a hug and took off and gave Helene the beautiful bracelet she was wearing.

I went to Lake Imaging at Colony to have an MRI yesterday, and they were the NICEST people, despite a couple of grump-buckets in there exercising their sense of entitlement.
They made me feel like a customer, not a number. And they were nice to the grump-buckets too!

...to a man with the same birthday as she has. 5-31. Now, he better remember that anniversary. It's a just family wedding though otherwise she would have had to invite way too many people.
There was a woman at the University of Minnesota Law School with the same birthday as I have-- 2-24. Have not met anyone else though with the 2-24 birthday. There were about 265 people in the incoming U of MN Law School Class of 1989 so it was hard to get to know many people except for those you shared classes with all that First Year. They divided the Class of 1989 into groups A,B,C,D and E. I was in Group A and most of my Law School experiences were with people from that group. The woman, Thane M., who shared my 2-24 birthday was in E. The groups tended to socialize together a bit throughout law school. Or, at least, it was a starting point. My friendships were more with the people in the clinic Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners. About 15 people from the starting Class of 1989 dropped out; but then a few more transferred in from other schools or were people who took more than three years to get through law school at graduated with us in 1989.
Hope these two birthday soon to be married people have a great time tomorrow. They may or may not be on TOTV. I often do not know if people know me from TOTV or not.
Thanks for starting such a positive thread Graciegirl.

Went to a wonderful dinner, with new friends.
Just like my old friends up north only, they won't let me buy them dinner. :D

That's nice to hear. I do think people with shared values and hobbies make the best relationships.
Now if I can just find some with a passion for movies, FunTrivia, dogs, and who can put up with my various selfless crusades. "Selfless crusades" are those that take money out of your pocket rather than putting it in. Of course, there are people who make gobs of money through their crusades but I have not figured out how just yet.

Gracie, What a nice topic for a thread!
As some of you know, I am in The Villages everyday, doing mostly warranty inspections. I love what I do and meet the most interesting and wonderful people. I had a customer the other day who enjoyed bird watching, etc. I was telling her a problem we were having with our active bluebird house, and she GAVE me a specific item to help with it....something that I did not know existed and in all of my research never came across.
It was so very kind of her and I very much appreciated it. When you consider the average life of the 7 billion people on this planet, we all have to be in the upper 1/10th of the top one percent in health, wealth, lifestyle, etc, etc......we are all very blessed and have much to be thankful for. Enjoy!

Went to the new Walgreens in Pinellas to get a prescription. The druggist was great!! There was a problem with insurance (go figure), he tried to fix it, but it turned out I had to call. After a 30 minute call involving several parties, I was told to have him put the transaction through again, no go, more typing at insurance company, and try again, after the 4th try, SUCCESS. During this whole process the druggist was great and very positive. This is my new pharmacy.

My wife is a very nice thing that happened to me. That's not limited to The Villages, though.
Special Villages shoutout to Gregory, Dr. Sham's rounding nurse at the hospital. I swear that guy carries a sack of uplift with him wherever he goes. And it's deliberate -- he makes a conscious effort to be present, to enjoy every moment, and engage with every patient.
I always resolve to do that myself after interacting with him and sometimes it even lasts a few days. My inbred sardonic nature creeps back, though.
Also had a great (for me) round of golf this week.

So I do not "hijack" the thread....I P.M.'ed both posters who asked me questions.....
My brother visited here last week. He was amazed at everything. Here were some of his comments;
1) The cars all look so clean!
2) There are NO potholes!
3) The bridges all look so new, no rust!
4) Gas is cheaper!
5) I love all the palm trees!
6) Watermelons are so cheap!
7) How cool you can pick peaches and oranges off your own trees...
8) People are all so nice here!
9) I love the BIG street signs...they are even lit! And the reflectors on the roads are so cool!

Getting back to the original question, my wife and I have met some of the most wonderful neighbors and friends here in The Villages. We have enjoyed their company on many occasions, over dinner or gatherings at everyone's homes, great times golfing, laughing at and sharing silly stories to the point that we thought we would pass out.
We still have a home in Connecticut, but spend 7-8 months here in The Villages. We have finally, after 4 years, decided that this is the place for us. We are back in CT getting our house ready to put on the market and can't wait cause we will be back in TV in 4 weeks.

"What nice thing happened to you today" ...... I don't think I can pinpoint just one nice thing, there is so much here to appreciate and be thankful for, even this hot summer weather is better than living in cool wet weather - well anyway it is for me.
But, this morning when I walked very very early I met a man who has been walking for over a year and has lost a lot of weight. So this morning I told him he looked great and he was so pleased. So, I suppose, I am his "nice" thing for today!

Since moving to The Villages less than a year ago I have heard many sad stories about people who came here to live the dream and unfortunately they are now struggling with health problems. So every day I'm aware of these nice things.
I CAN HEAR . . . the beautiful song of the Mockingbird, the storms rolling in, neighbors saying "hello" as they go by, strangers saying "hello" as they go by . . .
I CAN SEE . . . the morning sunrise, the evening sunset and the amazing clouds that only exist in Florida (maybe only in The Villages), the morning dew on the golf courses, the beautiful flowers along every street . . .
I CAN TASTE . . . the food that I'm able to prepare, meals that the wonderful restaurants in The Villages prepare for me . . .
I CAN TOUCH . . . the soft petals of flowers, the fur of my Golden Retriever, the hand of my loved one . . .
I CAN SMELL . . . the fresh air, the roses, cookies baking in the oven . . .
These are all nice things that happen to me each and every day. I'm blessed.

We had been with friends Jerry and Judy at the Savannah Center taking in 'Broadway x 4' and I was coming down with a bad cold. Prior to that, we were talking about our celebrating our 47th wedding anniversary soon and by then, my cold was in full bloom the next night. As we were sitting down watching our favorite show (NCIS), doesn't the doorbell ring and Jerry was standing there with a bouquet of flowers. Naturally, he didn't stay due to my cold but we thought what a beautiful gesture. It still stays with us.

Today, I accidentally dropped my wallet, in front of the Lady Lake post office on 27. Didn't know it was missing for over an hour. I backtracked and asked around if anyone turned a wallet in. No luck. Went home and a very nice couple had left a message that they picked it up and even offered to deliver it to my house. I said I'd meet them any where they liked. It was returned to me and I want to thank Mike and Vicki W. for their kindness and honesty. All they asked in return was to pay it forward. I will do that.
