Looking forward to meeting some of you TOTV'ers at Crisper's in the near future. Any advice to newcomers will be welcomed.

Ouida, Great news, congratulations!

Can I ask a general question -- did you get pretty close to your asking price or did you take a hit just to sell? I ask because my home has been up for sale for a few months and I think in this market, it's overpriced. We are going to suggest to our broker that we come down in price. But I just want to do it once, not incrementally.

I understand that some of the homes selling here (IL) have lowered their asking price by 10% and that's a big hit for us!

Nanci2539,

We did not have to reduce our price from our original asking price; however, we did accept 5% less than asking, so that wasn't too bad. We were discouraged, too, after a few weeks, then a few months when it didn't sell and thought we would never sell it in this market. But we never gave up hope and kept the faith and, sure enough, it sold when we least expected: in January on a cold and snowy day. Oh, and bye the bye, on my birthday, January 19th, my lucky day.

And to everyone else who responded, thank you for the good wishes and we're looking forward to meeting you. See you in a few weeks.

Ouida, :beer2: :clap2: Congratulations !!!

Joan and I will be right behind, hopefully within 6 months after you. What part of NC are you? We have a condo in Brevard we just put on the market. The market in North Carolina, generally, is better than in Florida. I wonder how the mountains compare with the other parts?

http://realtytimes.com/rtmcrtop/home.htm has an interesting Real Estate Market survey tool.

gfmucci, thanks for the best wishes. We live in Hope Mills, NC, a suburb of Fayetteville. The market has been pretty bad here in our area due to soldier deployments in two wars, as Fort Bragg is the driving force in our economy, and the 15-month deployments haven't helped. BTW, my husband, Ron, is originally from Taunton, MA, not far from Brockton, as you well know. You need to come on down to TV ASAP. We cannot wait! Are you a golfer, Ron wants to know?
