This morning, we played a game of 4321. This game is great for reinforcing your drawing to the jack skills. Each bowler has four bowls and usually four people on each rink. The purpose is to get your bowls as close to the jack as possible as only the first four bowls will count. The closest gets 4 points, the next one 3 points, then 2 point and 1 point. It can be played as a league, or as a pairs game, or as we did today, each person bowled for themselves. The count for each end is a max of 10 points, each person keeps a score card. At the end of four ends, the one with the most points generally moves to the next rink on the right and the others stay where they are, with the winner of the adjacent rink joining them. Generally playing 12 ends is a good game. Think this might be a really good option for Wednesday mornings! Tonight at 6pm we will have a game of regular bowls, probably 10 ends, so if anyone would like to come along and join in, we will make you very welcome, if you have not bowled before, we will be happy to show you how.

We had a good evening game with mens pairs and womens pairs. Also had three people come along and try out lawn bowls. They all did very well for their first attempt. A good day!

Weather was kind to us today, and we enjoyed morning bowling. This evening, again the weather was great to start with, a little thundery later. We were very pleased to welcome two new prospective bowlers, Bill and Mickey. They showed much potential, hope they enjoyed their first game and look forward to seeing them next week. Next week, the morning game will be 4321 to practice drawing skills, the evening a game. See you on the green at Rio Grande next Wednesday at 9 am and 6 pm.

You can wear whatever color clothes you wish, flat soled shoes and a hat are a must I would say. We will be delighted to welcome you tonight Wednesday 9th at 6pm or so, we will teach you how to bowl and get you right into a game, give you some info sheets etc and there are bowls for you to use. We bowled this morning and it was nice, evenings are a bit cooler aren't they!

Weather permitting and fingers crossed it will be dry, we will be bowling at around 6pm at the Rio Grande bowls green. This morning we had five lovely ladies show up, because of the impending heavy rain, our session was cut short, but all of them did really great. We hope to see them again next week, five prospective good bowlers in the making! Every Wednesday morning, we teach and then get into a game of 4321, great for learning how to bowl. Wednesday night, we teach them the basics and then into a game. All good fun! See you at the green.

Great piece about the Villages Lawn Bowls Club (Wednesdays) on the VNN tonight, repeating for 24 hours, for which we are very grateful along with the nice write up in the Daily Sun. We had another four people come along this evening to "have a go" and hope that they return again, they did very well.

Just a note to remind anyone who may be interested in lawn bowling or learning to lawn bowl, that we will be at the green to bowl tonight at 6 pm. We will play a game and/or teach. This morning we had two new ladies receiving tuition and playing a game. They bowled beautifully! Next week, we will probably start at 8.30 am because of the heat, and an hour or so is sufficient. See you soon.

Great turnout this evening with new bowlers and a couple of others who bowl. A really fun group of people. Next Wednesday we will start bowling in the evening at 7 pm as the sun is going down a bit by then and it is a little less hot. Great evening!
