Has anyone been notified that they are no longer going to have some of their doctors effective July 1st, 2014? My wife and I were just notified by mail that we will no longer have our primary doctor or our cardiologist effective July 1st. I called one of the well known group of cardiologist in Ocala, and they are terminating their agreement July1st also. This throws up a red flag regarding PUP insurance. I hope I'm wrong!

This is too funny . . .

I thought you were talking about a dog!

Perhaps you should change your headline spelling from Pup to PUP!

What is PUP???

Physicians United Plan is a Medicare Part D insurance provider.

BeetleBailey I knew you were talking about a Medicare plan, whether it was pup or PUP and I'm sure many others did too.

You can meet with a SHINE volunteer right here in TV - they're trained to assist with Medicare and can definitely answer the basic "what's covered by A&B" questions. Their schedule is in the Rec news each Thursday. Or you can also make an appointment to meet with a SHINE volunteer. You will receive one-on-one advice that I'm sure will be very helpful. And you can follow-up with them if you have more questions. Not sure if they can help you with your PUP problem, but then again you never know. Best of luck to you.

Physicians United Plan is more likely a Medicare Part C Plan . I believe Part D is drugs. The plan may cover that along with Part A and Part B.

Just heard today, that PUP is going out of business. I, for one, will have to find a new plan. Did not have a good feeling about them from the start but being on a budget, I liked that they gave reimbursement of most of the Medicare premium. This time around, I will be more selective and probably pay the premium. It will be worth it in the long run.

I was informed yesterday by my primary care Dr. that P.U.P (Physicians United Plan) HMO is insolvent and the State of FL is shutting them down on July 1st. They were my medical insurance as well and I'm in the process of finding another insurer.

I contacted medicare and they confirmed that P.U.P will not be available after July 1 and that I have 2 months to find a new insurer. During that time I will be covered by Original Medicare.

What a bummer, I've been with P.U.P for a year and a half and they've always provided decent service.

I received this email today from Family Physcians

We will continue to provide for you without interruption, and our customer service department is available to help you with any questions or concerns you may have during this transition.

WellCare
CarePlus
Freedom
Optimum
United Healthcare

I called P.U.P. and it is true so we will have to find another plan or Medicare will put us back on regular medicare. They also said medicare is sending notices in the mail and you need this notice to give to whoever you changing over to. You can't change without this notice from medicare.....

As a SHINE volunteer, I know we are in the process of gathering all available information regarding this unfortunate situation so that we can work with affected individuals at our counseling sessions. As noted by another poster, the schedule for these sessions is always in the Rec Center News. No appointment is necessary, just come and we help people individually on a first-come, first served basis.

My mom is with PUP, and we have not received any notice from them or Medicare. But we called Medicare and they are aware of the PUP situation. They told us the 60 day special enrollment period is June and July. We were able to select and enroll in another advantage plan to be effective July 1. No letter required. So it appears you don't need to wait. Perhaps the letter is necessary if you contact the new plan directly.

Are you saying you HAVE enrolled in a different Advantage plan that goes into effect on July 1st.

We have been told open enrollment would start August 1st thru Sept 30th.

Was she on a chronic snp Advantage policy?

It's a unique situation. If you have PUP, you have to find something else now or they will put you in regular medicare.

Yes we got her enrolled. We called the 1-800-medicare number, spoke to a rep who told us we could enroll in a different plan now to be effective on 1 July. He was ready to go over all the available plans in our area. We selected a plan and went through the application process. We got a confirmation number and should hear from the plan in about 10 days.

He also said our SEP was June/July.

No, she was not on any special plan.
