I recently had work done by a woman named Anita who sells decorative pillows, etc. at the craft shows in the town squares. She told me that she had been doing the kind of work that I wanted done for years. I wanted cushions on 4 breakfast room chairs recovered along with recovering the loose cushions on two occasional chairs in the living room. I provided the fabric. She did a terrible job, and did not do what I had requested. When I pointed out that she did not do what I had requested, she said she would have to charge me more to take the cushions apart and do what I had originally asked. When I told her that I did not think that was fair, she stopped answering my e-mails. I finally caught up with her at a craft show in the square, and she told me that she did not get the 7 e-mails that I had sent her! Needless to say, I will never use her services again, and if any Villagers out that need this kind of work done, do not use her. The pillows that she sells from her booth are pretty, but just about anyone can make a pillow. She is not qualified to do more detailed work.

Furthermore -- emails do not get lost in cyberspace.

If you had the wrong address on them, they would have been returned to you.

In addition to her lousy work, I guess she's a liar!

I'm not sticking up for this lady, but before we start calling people liars... the emails could have gone to her junk folder and sometimes people not only don't check this folder often, many don't even know that it exists. If emails aren't read within a certain number of days in the junk folder, they may be deleted automatically.

With respect to the e-mail portion, if you are using Outlook, there are options to confirm delivery (very useful for the first e-mail) and read (very useful to confirm the email was opened and read). I use these for first e-mails to confirm I got the address right and that it was read. NOTE: some e-mail systems, especially secure ones, seem to block the confirmation messages from coming back, so this is not fool proof.

Sorry to hear about your problems, guess the lesson is ask for references first.
