Did you see it? Did you report it? There is a guy in villas in Pennecamp that has been banned from amenities, his villa is in foreclosure and he has no running water or electricity. He has been seen at regional rec ctrs using showers and has been reported in the past.

So, how can you be sure he doesn't live in The Villages?
And just so you know, our streets are public roads, which means, they have to let anyone/everyone use them.

Yes I know that but they said he was Driving a camper not a golf cart so maybe he was not a resident
Any way if he was r was not a villager the bathing in the spa is not what we should expect

Ok, we have village pools, family pools and sports pools. What am I missing after all these years... Where and what are the spas?

That is a bit disconcerting that someone with a camper is using soap to wash in a spa. Yuck.

They can't check the gates as the streets are open to the public.
But they could be monitoring the pools more carefully.
I'd like to see a Card Reader at every pool.
Only those with Resident Cards could use the pools.

I used to manage a clubhouse with card readers. Once one would swipe their card, their photo would pop up on my computer in the office, and I had gate attendee to check. They didn't work. People would pass their cards to friends, etc. and most times, out of politeness, people would just hold the gate open for those behind them or when they were exiting. It's a huge expense to install card readers.
The Community Watch checks the pools but are informed not to bother anyone in the pool or who are sleeping. No brainer there if you are an outsider, either swim or sleep when you see them coming.

On the historic side, the OBG Country Club pool has a spa under the waterfall and the Southside pool has one although I've never been there.

We're newbies and always have questions. If we were to see this happen, who would we immediately call to report the incident?

A truly gated community is sounding better and better.

I don't want to see anyone bathing in a public hot tub. I get the point and see where it is of concern. But if you really think about it what are you worried about? His soap? His body is his body whether he's in the hot tub or the pool. The only additional thing to the equation that I can see is soap. If he has dirt on his body it would be coming off in the water whether he had a washcloth and soap or not. Right? There's enough bleach in that hot tub to kill just about anything. Relax everyone. Breath in. Breath out. I'm sure it was an isolated incident.

Yuck! I personally think bathing in a a public hot tub is disgusting, but I don't use public hot tubs and it's just my opinion. Soap in a hot tub clouds the water and clogs the filter reducing the life of the hot tub and increases maintenance time. This is written on the literature when you buy a hot tub. I've paraphrased, but it's close to the wording and the theory hasn't been lost in my interpretation. Why should someone be permitted to damage property not owned by them?

Personally, I would tell anyone who witnessed someone taking a bath in a Villages hot tub that they should have called 911 immediately. If not 911, then certainly Community Watch and ask them to call 911.

However, what has been mentioned in other posts on this thread - it is always the "I heard about ...". Very little is phrased as "I saw this occur at __ around __'clock."

I take my salt shaker with me since lots of the stories you have to take with a grain of salt.

The Country Club pools have spas but those are only for use by those who pay an extra fee per year - either for priority golf or for pool alone.

I have not heard of Southside pool. Where is it? Is it a private country club pool?

We live on the ocean. Trespassers are always a problem at the pool. The only way to monitor a pool (during the day) is with a full time lifeguard. Yet, they still hop the fence and make themselves at home in the dark. I don't swim in public pools at all - kooties.

Southside is a secret that is well kept by us historic side residents! ;) Info re it is really only readily available in the Recreation News section of the Daily Sun's Thursday edition! :)
