View Full Version : "Free" entertainment for neighborhood socials
We have a smaller neighborhood group - around 40 to 80 usually attend monthly socials. Are there any musical groups that are searching for venues to perform? We have done casino nights, Whist, Bingo, Oktoberfest, driveway potlucks etc. Just looking for some new ideas. Thanks.

I used to run a neighborhood group about that size and used to charge $3.00 per person at the door. I paid for entertainment that way. No one seemed to mind the small charge. We also did a 50/50 each week and sometimes I'd buy the desserts too.

Similar size for our group. A few years ago, you could get some local club musicians or dancers for $0 - $50. Now that the idea has caught on, the going the going rate is about $200. So we charge the attendees from $3 to $5 plus the food they bring.
