I live on the third tee of Pensacola, on Bonify. We have two wonderful fox squirrels that play around the palm trees on this tee. We love watching the antics. This morning around nine I watched as a golfer SWANG his golf club at this squirrel and knocked him a couple feet, let me tell you I was out the door, as I was running the golfer hit the squirrel again as he was attempting to climb up the palm tree. I was livid….what is the problem with this? The squirrel has more right to be there then the golfer. I called Bonifay and was told that the ambassador would be notified but really what could he do?. This is an attitude issue with the golfer, My wife cried and that in itself is not acceptable…..

Animal cruelty is a warning sign of psychopathic personality disorder.

Absolutely horrible and cruel. No excuse for that behavior.

There is really something wrong in the head when someone hurts an animal. Glad I'm not married to that baboon!!

I agree. This person needs help before his anger issues get worse. I personally despise animal and child cruelty.:ohdear:

No. Little bad boys do not kill animals for sport or out of anger. This is a sick individual.

He was probably having a bad golf game! Poor little squirrel. Glad he got away from that bad mannered golfer! Maybe in the squirrel's dreams tonight he will dream of climbing a tree and just when Mr. Bad golfer is about to tee off, the squirrel will dive down and jump on top of the golfers head!

This is not cute--squirrel's dreams and bad-mannered golfer. We're not talking bad manners; we're talking sick individual. Let's not trivialize an incident where someone "having a bad day" takes it out by beating the crap out of an animal.

That is sick behavior.
And what other golfers got paired up to play with him?? Imagine him swinging a club like that at golfers playing too slowly in front of him.

All said above about anger issues and animal cruelty as a serious sign of dangerous mental disorder is true. I am so sorry this happened and so sorry you had to see it.
That person either is very sick or very evil or both.
You, OP are a good person. Feel this hug.

Think I would have been calling the police. So far as I know, animal cruelty is against the law and this jerk definitely deserved more than what he got. I don't understand people who do things like this. I hope the squirrel is okay. Thank you so very much for caring.

I'm against cruelty to any animal, but I find it saddening that not one person has the opinion that perhaps he was bitten by the squirrel. This says much about you folks who only see one side and take a complete strangers word about what happened.
I would want the other side told before passing judgement...which you are all very quick to do...*sigh*

Are you kidding??? And I suppose after the squirrel tried to get away by running up the tree, the guy was afraid he was going to jump down on top of his head and bite him again, so better to hit him again just in case? Crafty squirrel and poor misunderstood golfer - really??????????????????

On a story like this I am sure there are always those who may have thought, maybe the squirrel had it coming but seriously, I've never seen a squirrel attack a human. I believe the chances a squirrel being rabid are very low too. I feel the golfer who did this also jets around on his hi speed golf cart cursing others who are driving too slow and passes others unsafely. I hope there was at atleast one other golfer that told him he needs pychological help.

May a thousand camel fleas infest this SOB's pubic hair and his hands be too short to scratch them!

This is so sad. I love watching the animals here in the villages. The scary thing is if he would do this to an animal what would he do if a human made him angry, also I believe in Kharma and he will get his.

What they can, and SHOULD do, is restrict that golfer...for a while OR forever. An individual that would intentionally hurt an animal has no moral compass, which begs the question, what else might he do while out golfing. Are other golfers in jeopardy? I sincerely hope you follow up with Bonifay, and make sure this was handled, and if not, voice your displeasure at that. I feel like I'm adding to your trauma by being so insistent, but it's your story, so no one else can interfere. So sorry your wife is upset, I don't blame her. I am livid and can't imagine having to see something like that.

I hope you reported him to the appropriate people. You were probably so mad you didn't think of it at the time, and it may be too late now, but if you remembered the time, they could possibly judge by the ressie times and narrow it down to several people. Don't know if the shack has access to golfer's pictures but I sure wish he could be kicked out and not allowed to golf for a long time. I know this is wishful thinking  butwould like to think he was punished somehow. Good for you for caring about the squirrel.

If he was bitten by the squirrel it's his own damn fault for getting too close or trying to touch the squirrel. Any animal will defend itself any way it can

We lived on a golf course in a very wooded area....lots of squirrels. The would get in your cart and steal your snacks. Most people thought it funny. I don't ever remember hearing of anyone retaliating against the squirrels.
